Do I think he's good at explaining tax realities? Definitely. However, Mr. Owens seems to be laboring under a preconceived notion the IRS is a good faith institution. They are not. Founded during the Civil War the IRS exists only to hurt us. So I will eventually apply for a 72 month payment plan to handle the 15K penalty I was told I will be punished with for needing cash now. I will definitely not go out of my way to make a good faith payment to the IRS. That will not happen. Only a payment plan I can afford. "Render onto Caesar what is Caesars" sure. But with Mr. Owens you will be paying so much more than you anticipated.

This year there were various issues that needed to be addressed regarding the final taxes sent into the IRS. I made an appt to meet with Mr. Peterson to discuss the various issues. We discussed the first issue that went back to the 2016 taxes and his answer was that he would write a letter and charge me $125. I will say that I was very infuriated by that response and it was insulting. (I can write a professional letter myself without the $125 charge.) Until the above 2016 tax issue was resolved the remaining 2017 tax issues could not be addressed. The second issue was when I called the IRS they had no record of my taxes being sent in electronically. I called Mr. Peterson and made him aware that the IRS has no record of the electronically filed taxes and that I needed a copy with the confirmation number. He briefly spoke to me then "slammed" the phone down hanging up on me. PROFESSIONALISM AT ITS VERY WORST!!! The third issue is they had no record of my refund because they had no record of the electronically filed taxes. Although, interestingly enough I was being charged for not having insurance due to Obamacare. I wrote letters and placed numerous calls to the IRS to straighten out this mess. I had the pleasure of dealing with some very professional people at the IRS. In fact, the IRS wanted to know who my CPA was as there was no excuse for this situation. I gave the IRS all of Peterson CPA Firms information both in writing and verbally. I handled every one of these issues with the IRS and got it all resolved with in a couple of months. This is a prime example where Peterson CPA Firm should have followed thru on all issues as Mr. Peterson was the CPA of record for preparing my taxes. An additional item I would like to mention is that I donate every year to the Salvation Army, the V.A. of Houston as well as the women's and men's homeless shelters. I try to do my part as I am very fortunate and would like to give others a helping hand. No matter what my donatons were for the year to these organizations Mr. Peterson would always slash the cost extensively. Mr. Peterson says it is based on the IRS guidelines for Goodwill. Goodwill would not even except the items of donation. Especially, after Tropical Storm Harvey. i.e. (used) dining room table w/8 chairs, refrigerator, freezer, 2 chandeliers, & numerous boxes of clothing. (new) $1,500 worth of brand new items to help those who lost so much during Harvey. Unfortunately, I do not donate garbage. I donate quality used items as well as brand new items. I would never ever recommend Peterson CPA Firm to anyone. Peterson CPA Firm deserves ZERO STARS. MR. PETERSON IF YOU HAVE NOT FIGURED THIS OUT YET; "YOU ARE FIRED"!!!
