The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity is in close proximity to the Zwinger and statue of King August…read more It is one of the several must-see destinations around the Zwinger. The most prominent of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity is the clock tower. In case you are wondering, the entire structure is blackened over time because it is made of sandstone, which absorbs the dirt and impurities in the air over time. In case you do not know the history, Dresden was bombed to smithereens after WWII. So many of the structures are rebuilt from scratch. In addition, they are rebuilt from using some of the same materials from their old structures. Hence, they form the unique black and white checkered patterns: white being from the new materials while black from the original structure materials. This cathedral is certainly impressive and a great photo spot; enjoy!
