Other than that, it's just women all day errday. I got the exfoliating scrub and massage. It was one of the best add-ons I could have asked for -- especially that massage! I feel like the massages in Germany are much different compared to that of the US? There's somewhat of a physiotherapy approach that you would find more or less at a clinic in the USA. Anyway, you can bring your own bathing suit or go around nekked. It's up to you, it's a judgment free zone and those Germans are very accepting of everyone you know! You're given a locker, and you can choose to get some towels and sandals for a small fee. There's also a shower, a dry sauna, wet sauna, and cooling room. I pretty much did everything I could in the 3 hours paid for. After you are done, dressed, and return your things (if you rented anything that is), you can relax in the front area with some Turkish tea. I slept sooo good that night. Can't wait to go back!

Been to a handful of gay saunas/bath houses around the globe and this is by far the best in terms of lay out, amenities, and cleanliness. I want to emphasize the cleanliness though...like there are people constantly cleaning; enough so that I noticed there wasn't scaling accumulating in the pool or mold anywhere and there was a hint of chlorine in the air (to me that's pretty sanitary). There are guys in all shapes, sizes and ages from all over Europe and everyone speaks English (out of respect, at least try to assimilate). However, I do want to point out that I was one of the five colored guys there out of probably 50 guys; take that however you want. There are showers scattered everywhere so if you need to wash off after 'anything' it's easy to find. The layout is pretty cool as well. Upon entry, you collect your towel and slippers and head up to the clean and open locker room. Once undressed and in a towel, you head down a separate stairway to the bar and patio area. Continue down the stairway to the basement and that's where everything is at. I totally recommend this place and will visit again when I have the chance. Last thing to mention, there's a very popular Giro stand out front if you're hungry.

This is a beautiful indoor pool facility that was recently restored. There are two large pools -…read morethe largest is kept at around 28c/82f and the smaller large pool (which is still quite big) is kept just below bathwater warmth - it's REALLY warm and you don't have to get used to the water temperature at all. There is a schedule for open swim time for the public on their website. It's around 5€ to use the pool. There are separate locker/changing rooms for men and women. Each locker room has hair dryers (1€) and lockers where you get a key in exchange for a 1€ coin that you get back, so remember your coin if you want to secure anything. The locker rooms have changing tables and wooden playpen sort of things to put your baby while you change. There are swim classes at various times during the day so it's important to understand the schedule if you want to use the pool. I've enrolled in two classes. One instructor spoke only german which is understandable. Another instructor spoke german, spanish and english. The pool facility has a website but no way to do online registration so if you plan to take a class, plan to register in person, and to get there before opening time. The queues run out the door and he wait for registration is longer than an hour. During registration, their card machine wasn't working so they were only accepting cash. All in all, it's a nice big clean pool facility but they could benefit their customers by creating online registration. After all, it's 2018. The front desk staff could also use a lesson in smiling and not being so crabby.

Forget lap swimming, there are no lane lines and swimmers pretty much have to stop at each side of the pool to plan how to criss cross their way to the other side. And the late night cheap swim seems to also be the make-out-in-the-pool spot and the get-sexual-favors-in-the-corner-of-the-pool times. I haven't gone during the normal hours but if you are here as a tourist and want to see the beautiful architecture, go during the day. It is certainly worth seeing. The sauna is also affordable and charming with the old tiles, but I went on a mixed (male and female) day that was a total sausage party. Honestly, I don't care that the majority were dudes, but why they all seemed to be doing yoga moves that required spreading their legs as far as possible in the air has always baffled me. Not too pleasant when the sauna is so packed that the guy behind you is dripping on your back! For a more pleasant mixed sauna, I recommend liquidrom or this one really cool, smaller Russian owned sauna in Friedrichschain (will review soon!).

I…read moredon't know if it was because it was a Sunday or cheap or the great reviews on yelp, but it was crowded! The facility is very nice, clean, and stylistic. The garden is beautiful, but I'm sure it would be prettier in the Spring. There are two dry saunas, a large steam sauna, a plunge pool, two "resting/sleeping" rooms, a tanning bed (solarium), a couple massage rooms, a mini bar that sell alcoholic and non-alcoholic beer and other fruit juices. Most other saunas require a ten euro deposit for the key/chip for the lockers. Here they don't. They are very trusting and they seem to work on the honesty system. The entrance is relatively open and you have to pay at the bar. It's a little bit of a maze when you first arrive, but once you are familiar with the layout it's very manageable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Yes it's a mixed sauna for men and women... and you gotta go in Berlin style... no bathing suits. Loved it... except like I mentioned, it was too crowded.

I started out with a massage (which was interesting because I don't speak any German and the massage therapist didn't speak any English!). Needless to say, the massage wasn't the best ever since I couldn't really tell the massage therapist what I wanted. The actual main room with the saltwater pool is pretty cool. There are pool noodles there to grab and then you float on them and listen to the chill music being piped in to the pool. I took one star off because I didn't like that I had to pay extra to borrow towels and a bathrobe while I was there. It was a unique experience at the Liquidrom and I really liked going there to relax in the large pool!

I am back in Berlin for the week and decided to treat myself to a few spa experiences. During my…read moreresearch I honed in on 2 spas in particular (and I'll write a review for both) - Liquidrom and Vabali. I went to Vabali first, and Liquidrom second. Liquidrom: The pool is within a quick walk from the U Bahn. It's a cool building (though the spikes belong to Tempodrom, not the pool portion). Upon checking in and getting changed in the locker room, I felt like it was basic, but functional. Their shower gel in the showers is nothing special or premium, but it works. Once showered, you enter a long hallway. And this is where the confusion begins. There is not a lot to do here. It's bizarrely disjointed since it's partially clothed partially nude. The clothed portion is the salt water pool. This is what you're paying €22.50 for 2 hours for. It's one pool (and I guess a tiny outside pool to sit in, but you'll mingle with nude people from the spa, if you're expecting to stay clothed). I think this whole space would make a lot more sense if they don't upcharge you for the spa, but make it one holistic no clothing experience for the full pool and spa. The pool itself is decent. It's moody with LED lighting and music playing. But it's not really that big. And it's circular, so I am not really sure what you're supposed to do here for 2 hours. It's the only thing you've payed for (other than optional massages and whatnot). Anyway, over to the Spa I went. €2.50 upcharge (once) and you're in through the turnstiles. And again I am confused. Where are you supposed to put your swim trunks? There are open lockers, but I saw a few people schlep their garments around all the time. In the spa. you have 4 saunas. 2 of which are pretty nice (the Aufguss Sauna at 90c and the Kräutersauna (I forgot the temp). The other two are a steam room and a 60c salt room (that I found to be kinda useless. It was not warm enough really to do anything). I was able to join one infusion in the Aufguss sauna, and that was hot and decently nice. The issue I was having (and the reason I only got to do one) is that signage and clocks are not super obvious. Apparently they only do these once per hour at the full hour. I got there shortly before 10am. I would've liked to at least have a chance to join the 10am one, but I didn't know, nobody tells you anything, and signage is hidden right by the Sauna, so deeper into the spa. I left after reaching the 2 hour mark, since I didn't want to pay for 4 hours (which is charges you if you go over). I won't come back. I think this place is crazy expensive for what you can do here. The spa facilities are confusing and not that great. Going to Vabali is not that much more expensive, but you get SO MUCH more. Don't bother going here, seriously, just don't.
