    Lots of shops

Holy Moly! This is a MASSIVE shopping center, located in the south-eastern suburbs of Amsterdam. It's a bit hard to describe the layout, as the shops (and indeed the mall itself) is spread out between several buildings and the main shopping part is this mixed use area with tons of apartments with the shops laid out on the ground floor. The shops itself are the regular mixture - some high end luxury brands, but the majority are those you find any where in the world at a mall nowa days, like L'Occitane en Provence or The Body Shop, to name a few. The restaurants are all towards the outskirts of the buildings, so facing the square, rather than inside. There is also a small-ish Albert Heijn, located in the basement of the mall. I was told at the info desk that the mall is open the first Sunday of every month and until 9:00 pm on Thursdays (apart from regular business hours during the week). I also have to give props to how easy it is to reach the shopping center via public transport. BTW, "Stadshart" means center or heart and so loved the poetic nature of how this mall is named. Also, they throw some great cultural festivities - one weekend in November I came for the Diwali festival on a Saturday and then the next day on a Sunday, it was transformed into the Japan festival. They put up a big pavilion and so both festivities took place under sheltered awnings which was great to keep out of the cold and the sprinkling of rain. This mall is definitely a happening place and one I will probably frequent fairly often! Yelp 185/ 2018

The stadshart is shopping center which has plenty of parking places, but is also easily reachable via public transportation. There is a large variety of shops here, so there should always be something for anybody :) Every now and then they also organize some larger events. When we were there, during the whole weekend they had the Japan Festival. This meant that you had small demonstrations everywhere (bonzai trees / tea ceremonies) and a large stage on the main square combined with lots of small food stands where you could try different japanese food.

Nice shopping center.. easily reached by a car or public transportation. There is a quite nice selection of shops like Bijenkorf, VD, Zara, Massimo Dutti and lots more. You can also find a place to have a small coffee break or lunch. The weekend when we visited the mall they had a Japan Festival on the square, which was a great event to get to know Japanese culture and food a bit more.

For people from the US-- the VAT department is located on the Fourth Floor towards the back. Also, the bathroom is located on the fifth floor, along with a cafe. I would definitely say this place is worth a visit while in Amsterdam.

I purchased the perfume for €268, I usually wear Chanel, Roja, Carolina Herrera, so I am familiar with luxury fragrances. The sales consultant was very pleasant and even gave me a complimentary Estée Lauder makeup bag and a small La Mer sample by the way, the skincare is excellent. This made me fully confident that my purchase was handled correctly. However, after returning to the UK and opening the box a few days later, I was shocked to discover that I had been sold a different fragrance -- Aerin Le Soir, instead of Le Jour, which I had selected! At the time of purchase, I did not notice the difference, as the packaging was pink and I trusted both the consultant and the store completely. Imagine walking into a beautiful store in a great mood, purchasing an expensive perfume, and later realizing you received something entirely different from what you chose. This completely ruined my mood and my overall shopping experience. I contacted customer support via WhatsApp, hoping for a resolution, but unfortunately the outcome was far from what I expected. There were no apologies from the store, and I was denied both an exchange and a refund on the grounds that the perfume had already been opened. I would like to thank Maya for at least forwarding my case to the store. It feels as though customers are valued only at the moment of purchase. When a genuine issue arises on the store's side, responsibility is avoided, leaving the customer with money wasted.

Quite a few big names have locations here including Albert Heijn, Subway and JD Sports, most of these streets did seem decent, and there is a market area too. A lack of information guides / general staff around was a slight problem, at first, it could even be hard to tell you are in something which is a "shopping centre", and they don't seem to have a mall guide which they really are missing, especially as this is the largest shopping centre in Amsterdam. Amsterdamse Poort's location is decent, being close to the Railway Station and the Amsterdam ArenA, but the location, of course, could make it a place to avoid on an event day, as I can only presume it gets hectic. Amsterdamse Poort adds to the feel of the Amsterdam ArenA reminding me of Wembley, as this just feels like a larger Wembley Park in a way (London Designer Outlet etc) Decent place to shop while in Amsterdam as long as it isn't an event-day, not without its' flaws but remains easy to get to via public transport (train and metro) so I do feel a three-star rating is deserved here!

I kept thinking how funny it was that there wasn't much around considering the ArenA (http://www.yelp.com/biz/amsterdam-arena-amsterdam), movie theater (http://www.yelp.com/biz/pathe-arena-amsterdam-4), and the concert venue (http://www.yelp.com/biz/heineken-music-hall-amsterdam) are right there. I mean, we need a place to eat before the show! Well, make that left when you exit the station and find all kinds of food and shopping! It was so much bigger than I was expecting! You have grocery stores, clothing stores, electronics, jewelry, body stores, almost anything you could look for. It's a maze, but it has good aesthetics, is clean, and there are maps. I would just go for an afternoon stroll with maybe a snack at the Cinnabon (http://www.yelp.com/biz/cinnabon-amsterdam-zuid-oost)--I'm a sucker for those cinnamon buns!
