Note that this is from an American's POV. Accor Stadium (previously ANZ Stadium) is a large venue that has sport matches and major concerts. I decided to buy tickets the day of to see Lady Gaga during her Mayhem Ball, and the place was nearly full. Supposedly there was 80k people in attendance. It sounds chaotic being at a place with so many people, but it was actually quite smooth. It's super easy to get there by train. You just get off at Olympic Park station and walk about 10 minutes to the stadium. Leaving might be a different story for people, but I left midway during Gaga's last song and didn't bother staying for the encore. Because of this, I was able to get on the train quite quickly without waiting too long. Of course other people had the same idea too, but it wasn't too bad. I've even watched people running from the stadium to the train station, which I thought was a bit much. There's food stands outside before you enter the stadium. Think of them as food stands you'd see at the state fairs. You can get tornado potatoes on a stick, burgers, etc. There's also food inside the stadium, and the pricing is actually very reasonable vs. the ridiculous prices you see at American stadiums like LA's Crypto Arena. It's partial they don't rip you off like crazy and the AUD/USD exchange rate. I got a small gelato for $6, which would probably be more like in the $10+ range in America. You can get banh mi, sushi, burgers, pizza, gelato, etc. For drinks I think there was only beer, seltzer, and wine. If you want to look for sit down restaurants outside the venue, it's quite limited. You'd have to go to the next town over for some good food, and it's about a 20 minute train ride. This stadium is outdoor, so luckily the day I went wasn't raining. It rained the next day, and I would imagine it's unpleasant especially in the seats I had where there's no cover. Overall, it was a good experience. Accor is a good venue for massive concerts. Also for some background: I was trying to buy tickets to see Gaga in San Francisco on the day of the concert, and it was all resellers selling for $300+ for shit seats so I didn't go to that one. It was too ridiculous. In Sydney I bought directly from the official ticketing platform that morning of the concert for $120, not even from resellers, and it worked perfectly fine. My suggestion is if you can, sometime it's probably better to travel to see big acts elsewhere vs. back home if you have the means to. Like Taylor Swift, it was difficult to get tickets to go see her at So-Fi Stadium because of bots and scalpers, the reseller tickets were outrageously priced, and the experience is stressful. I imagine it was probably less stressful to get tickets in Sydney. read more

With a record crowd of 61,000 for the Waratahs and Crusaders final the atmosphere was pretty good. The crowd did make it pretty clear that the stadium can't really process the crowds very well when it gets closer to capacity. As we walked to gate M (the members gate, don't be jealous) we walked past a queue that was snaking around itself. Gate H. Now we know what the H stands for. The members area was pretty good. Plenty of bars. No wait for service. Still only serving mid-strength Hahn but it's a definite improvement on the VB only policy of Allianz Stadium. I was a little put off that my friend got carded and I didn't. We're both 30+ and she's older than me. I still think it was a line from the security guard... We got our 4 beers each to save lining up again and in we went. Special mention needs to go to the attendant on Aisle 133 who obviously decided that the entire population of the North Shore was number dyslexic. She meticulously checked each and every ticket, each and every time you went in and out. This caused a massive queue and I'm sure some people missed kick off. Looking to the aisles either side with people walking in free and clear, this is not a requirement of the job. I did get to witness an amazing chat-n-cut. I was the chat-ee and the people behind me didn't say anything to the chat-er so I left her to it. Just before half time I ducked out to get a hotdog, chips and a pie for my friend. The hotdog was fine. American mustard and tomato sauce make anything edible. The pie was Vili's. They're not the worst out there. The chips were pretty nice and crunchy. I wasn't charged for the sauce or mustard which surprised me. Nothing beats Allianz for location (as long as you take advantage of the pubs before going in) but ANZ wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The special event trains make it a lot easier to get to. read more

ANZ stadium is testament to Australian sport, celebrating some iconic Olympic memories that showed what Australian sport is all about. I have been here many times and it's up there with the likes of Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge and some of the worlds iconic sporting grounds. The stadium is located in Olympic Park and on match day the stadium has plenty of dining options nearby as well as a train station which ensures you a quick entry and exit after the game. The stadium is incredibly versatile and offers many different sports such as AFL, Rugby, state of origins and soccer games so for sure any sports fan will have the opportunity to visit the stadium. This visit I got to see Sydney FC play Tottenham Hotspurs. This got a crowd of 72,000 and an enjoyable game. read more

ANZ Stadium at Olympic Park was built during the 2000 Sydney Olympics and till today it continues to be the venue for all major sports in Sydney. It is especially home to the local NRL Rugby clubs. Although there are paid guided tours, the best way to experience the stadium is by attending a game in action and watching the crowds cheer. The local NRL team is South Sydney Rabbitohs, so make sure to wear green/red to show your support. It is also the venue for international games like Soccer and watching the Socceroos score is a thrill unparalleled. It's not just sporting events that happen there, I was fortunate to see the Chariot race of Ben Hur being held there and the way the field was transformed to a theatre, with clay and chalk flooring, it was hard to imagine it being all grass underneath. If you are going for an event, public transport is generally included in your ticket price and the most recommended way to travel. However, if you do choose to travel, reserve a parking bay, as it can be a nightmare otherwise to find a parking spot. The Olmypic Park has over 6 lots but each get filled very quickly. Not really a problem for me, as I live a stone's throw away from the park and can easily walk there. Which is why I can rate it 5 stars! On it's day, this 80,000 seater stadium out at Sydney Olympic Park can be a hotbed of atmosphere, unfortunately for this to be the case, it needs to be full or very nearly full. I've been there when they've had a respectable 40,000 people through the turnstiles and it feels as if it's pretty much empty. This tends to be a problem with today's modern stadia - they're very pretty to look at and full of amenities that today's sports fans require, but they lack character. Older stadiums have a sense of history about them, even if some of the stands are falling down. Don't get me wrong, this is a world-class stadium, and if you attend any big sporting events, i.e. NRL Grand Final, State of Origin or major football (soccer) internationals, then you'll feel the buzz that tends to be created by 80000 people crammed in next to each other (although the seats are well spaced, so there's not too much cramming), but if you're a regular to NRL games that only attract 10-20,000, it'll have the feel of a hollow shell, which is not the best way to watch professional sports! On the plus side, it is situated right next to the train station, and special services are usually put on for most events that take place there, so getting to and from isn't much of a problem if you're using public transport. Getting there by car can be a bit of pain, especially when trying to get the park and ride bus back to the car parks. I'll give it 4 stars just because it is a world-class stadium, unfortunately there just don't seem to be enough people interested in the sports played there to fill it 95% of the time! read more

Agree with all the others - it really needs to be full to get the most out of the stadium. Getting in and out is a well oiled machine. I either train/bus it in or if I drive its a 100m walk from the P1 carpark. My one and only gripe is the food and beverage pricing. They have a captive audience so why go and rip people off? Paying $15 for a combo meal of a pie, small chips and a drink is a complete rip off. Not sure if you can bring food in with you but if you can - I'd recommend it. read more

T's OK when its packed. When there's only a couple of thousand folks it's like throwing confetti at a funeral. Sure you stand out, but its just embarrassing. Heard today its going to get a roof, that would be good. Bet I'm dead before it happens. GHB and I went to the Sydney Bledisloe and found our seats were in the rain. We went upstairs, snuck into the members stand ( I still have my old members badge), found the two best seats in the whole stadium, sat in them, and waited to be kicked out. Never happened. We had dry seats on the half way line and every other seat around us was taken. No one even looked at us. So glad I let membership go - it was costing $700+ a year and our Bledisloe tickets only cost $200. Each.... I mean ouch. If I was still a member I could not have sat in the level 4 Members section with my son and I would have had to buy his ticket for $100+ just to sit in the nosebleed section. And it was a draw. The week before when the Waratahs won in the final minute - that was good. We had great seats and they were sort of reasonably priced Food and drinks are insanely expensive and the tills have been designed to take twenty minutes per transaction. I watched as some poor 14 year old entered my purchase (1 bottle coke) by at least 24 key strokes. What a joke! read more

If you enjoy queues, trains and spending money, then you are going to love ANZ stadium. What beats a live sporting event in which empty seats out number paying fans? To be honest, mars has more atmosphere. read more
