While entering the restaurant, we were a little confused about whether to go throught the second…read moreglass door or whether to climb the wooden stairs. It turned out to be the second glass door. While the entrance of the restaurant is not the most welcoming one, the actual area around the tables however has a very nice atmosphere, they even have fabric napkins instead of simple paper. The menu is more or less what you find at every other italian restaurant too, but they do have a page for seasonal stuff (mussels at the moment) as well as a page for suggestions by the chef. It also has all the dishes (except for the previously mentioned 2 pages) explained in english. The top of the pages have a comment, that they use minced meat only, which was their try to translate the German information that their ground meat is beef only (while ground pork or a mix of ground pork and beef is very common in Germany as well). The prices for the starters are somewhere around 5EUR, simple main courses (Pizza, Pasta) are around 8-12EUR while e.g. beef filet and similar may rise the price to 20EUR and beyond. The waiter was a little unmotivated and would probably do well, to use a little notebook. He was not very attentive either which showed in our candle going out (which he finally removed but never replaced) and our empty glasses standing on the table until we left (even though he came back to the table a few times). We started our meal with Bruschetta. It was being served on selfmade little breads, but the tomatoes did not look too amazingly fresh anymore and it was a little salty. They were arranged nicely on a plate with a little bit of lettuce in the middle and a few herbs sprinkled on the edge of the plate. Our main course came fast and steaming hot (even though they were rather busy). My Spaghetti Carbonara Originale (they offer two versions of carbonara, one the way it is supposed to be and another, in Germany better known, version with a cheese-creme-sauce) were tastewise okay. My wife's Canneloni were somewhat bland. Both dishes kind of lacked any presentation, the only thing done was those few herbs on the edge of the spaghetti plate. For dessert we shared Tiramisu, which was wonderfully arranged and tasted good as well. According to the stickers on their door, they do accept VISA and Mastercard, we however paid with our ATM-card, so we cannot confirm it.

3.5 stars but rounding down since the service was SO slow…read more Osteria Tra Noi is a family run trattoria in Stuttgart that serves rustic Italian food. They are located on a quiet corner in Stuttgart, and we actually ended up there by mistake looking for another restaurant. Although we didn't have reservations, they luckily accommodated us and gave us one of the last tables in the second level area. However, once we were sat, no one came to check in on us or take our order for 10-15 minutes! We had to flag them down while they were taking the other tables order, and we decided on: -Maultaschen w/Cheese Filling (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/osteria-tra-noi-stuttgart?select=rwzk-THvedZEA5S09XeoxQ#D_5-KVZFATFtY59fUeWDPw): This is the German take on ravioli, and I thought it was good, but needed a sauce on top or something else in the middle aside from just cheese (which had the texture of ricotta). I don't think I would order this again. -Penne Arrabbiata (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/osteria-tra-noi-stuttgart?select=rwzk-THvedZEA5S09XeoxQ#W6UHdTDSDxDq2HZpBGC_tg): Solid dish, but not amazing. I wish it were spicier. -Steak in Gorgonzola Cheese Sauce (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/osteria-tra-noi-stuttgart?select=rwzk-THvedZEA5S09XeoxQ#URCCS2v0ZTY2lQpE5krDaA): My favorite dish from the restaurant. I didn't think the gorgonzola sauce would work that well with the steak, but it was really tasty. The steak was cooked well, although it could have used a little extra sear. However, I would order this again. -Veal Scallopini (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/osteria-tra-noi-stuttgart?select=rwzk-THvedZEA5S09XeoxQ#zq8vnHFKcAwEJOnLwuTPpA): Ok, but nothing special. They gave you a ton of veal though. The best part about dining at Osteria Tra Noi was their homemade bread, which the owner (and server) makes fresh every day. It had a wonderful crust, but the inside was soft and deliciously chewy. Overall, I liked my dinner here but don't know that I would return. They do not speak much English here, so it can be difficult to communicate at times. Parking also seemed tough since there wasn't much street parking available, and we lucked out since we took a cab.

Others in my party had pizza, and it all looked great. Service was also excellent, one of the servers did speak English which was perfect because my Deutsch is atrocious. The location is in an unassuming location in a small park and depending where you sit and time of Your visit you can watch the indoor sports. They were able to handle a group of Six with no Issue. I would visit again! My two visits were about once year apart while visiting Stuttgart.

A family run Sardinian restaurant with mom and pop in the front and the son as the master chef! The vitello tonnato is THE BEST outside of Sardinia. The tomato soup made me LOVE tomato soup and no other place can come close to it (in Germany or the US). All their daily specials (on the chalk board) are amazing, fresh and makes you feel like you're sitting in momma's kitchen. Our top dish is the classic spaghetti aglio e olio!! Pizzas are great and if you're in the mood for any take away, especially pizza, come here and get it only! Forget about any other pizza place. You'll get authenticity, fresh made dough, clean toppings and cooked to perfection. There's many Italian restaurants around that all promise authentic food, flavor and experience but Sale e Pepe is the only place the really gives you that exactly. It's cozy and romantic but great for groups too. English is not spoke often so a translation app will be helpful. If you know a little German that's even better :-) speak Italian and you might become one of the family!
