Stadio Olimpico is the "Olympic Stadium" of Rome, it opened in 1937 but was rebuilt in 1990 for the World Cup, this stadium is now shared by rivals Roma and Lazio.
The stadium don't run tours, so don't attend (like me) and expect to see anything other than the outside of the stadium and a few fences.
They was security guards here, but they were hard to find and I only knew about them after being shown by locals, who were strangely gathered at the stadium with cars going in and out, despite "nothing going on"
They isn't really anything in this area so it isn't a place to go just to have a look, the space is empty really, it reminds me of a wasted opportunity, as they could make a lot of money by doing tours.
The stadium isn't too impressive and from the looks of it, you can't tell Roma and Lazio play here as they is no logos around the stadium or team names mentioned, just the stadium name, of course this is obvious reasons with them being rivals, and often violent between each other but it is quite unusual for me, to see no logo of the team that plays at the stadium or mention of them, not there.
The stadium definitely does look old from the outside, and although they is nice Olympic buildings surrounding it, it just isn't a nice place on the outside, with pot holes in the floor and it being unsteady in certain areas, which is something you wouldn't see at a big Premier League teams stadium
I only came here as I do like to go around football stadiums, and I'm planning to visit as many as I can in Europe, but in all honesty if you are just coming here for a tour, and not a game, it just isn't worth bothering as they is nothing to do at the stadium or nearby when you get there, with nearby cafes being "pop-up stalls" and looking scruffy and not a nice place to go.
I am giving 2 stars because I do believe this to be a great thing if they work on it, like providing tours and in all honesty it is a nice football venue, and one of the better ones in Italy and it doesn't deserve one. read more
