They overlook Whitelee Fell National Nature Reserve and are only two miles from the Scottish border. The cottages are rated 4-star and have every mod con you could want. The one Mr CuteBadger and I stayed in had a fully kitted out kitchen, including a washing machine, microwave etc. The decor is lovely and everything was clean and tidy. There are even cameras rigged up around the farm so you can sit with a glass of wine in front of the TV and watch the nocturnal wildlife come out to play. We watched barn owls, foxes, lots of different birds and bats - sadly no badgers though. The couple who own the cottages are lovely and do everything they possibly can to make your stay a good one. The fridge is stocked with locally-produced beer and the freezer with locally-made ice-cream - you just settle up when you leave. They also lent us their bat detector so we could have a late-night bat safari. We had a wonderful stay and can't wait to go back.

The setting is great for kids, there are extensive grounds and a tenis court, games room and for once the computer games were abandoned and my children discovered the world around them and had a ball. Just back from a lovely relaxing overnight stay at Leithen Lodge on Sat 1st Nov. Arrived as a party…read moreof 4, having booked an Amazon Local deal to receive a lovely warm welcome from Julie. She told us some history of the property & took us to our 2 bedroom appt in the Stables. Our afternoon tea had already been left for us in the kitchen of our appt - this consisted of 3 open sandwiches each (ham & cucumber, cheese & tomato & cream cheese & smoked salmon), a homemade plain scone with cream & jam and a piece of iced chocolate cake. All were fresh, home baked & delicious. The appt consisted of downstairs kitchen (this did get chilly in the evening & in the morning), middle floor with bathroom & small library then up 3 steps to the lounge with formal dining room off & 2 double bedrooms. The furnishings were traditional & comfortable and very cosy heat wise. As part of the Amazon deal we had beauty treatments of a back, neck & shoulders massage, scalp massage & manicure. As we were there to relax & unwind, we were happy to go with the flow and wait our turn with Emma, the fabulous beauty therapist who is kept very busy. The back massage was honestly amazing, painful at times as I asked for quite firm but no pain, no gain! The appt is well equipped with everything you need for an overnight/short stay. Remember to take your own bath towels. There is plenty of hot water & the beds very comfy. We paid extra to have a cooked breakfast delivered to our appt in the morning. This arrived hot, was delicious & it came with hot toast & bagels. We walked to the main road where you can reconnect to the world with mobile & internet signals even though for a short time it was nice to be off the radar! Our manicures took place late morning & were enjoyable. Checkout is usually 11am although we were able to stay a bit longer until beauty treatments were completed. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending Leithen Lodge & cant wait to return.

Me jules & ted were so helpful & friendly telling us everything we needed to know!! The apartment was lovely & cosy when we arrived, Afternoon tea was brought to our apartment, it was lovely and all homemade!! We got our massage & nails done which was also amazing!! Walks in the lovely grounds were also fun!! Was great to get some peace & quiet. Had a fantastic night would definately recommend staying here, we will def be back!!
