Specialties
Based in St Werburghs in East-Central Bristol, we serve the local communities of Lawrence Hill, Ashley and Easton wards. The Centre is managed by the St Werburghs Community Association, which aims to provide meeting spaces and facilities for individuals, community groups and voluntary organisations.
We focus on building mutually beneficial partnerships between groups and organisations in the community. In support of this, we run various events and projects, current to include Bike Repair Workshops, Tea Dances and Tai Chi for over 50's, Raking & Baking, Picnic in the Park and we also have other voluntary organisations based in the centre who are working within the local community.
If you are looking to hire a meeting room, run a regular class, hold a business conference or host a family party - St Werburghs Centre has plenty of space for it all.
The Centre is run by a small team of staff, we seek funding from various avenues, and help from volunteers.
History
Established in 1973.
St Werburghs Community Centre is run by St Werburghs Community Association since 1973. In 1999 SWCA took over the management of the building from Bristol City Council, and registered as a charity and a company. In 2010 SWCA successfully completed the Capital Project and Asset Transfer. Funds for this project came from Government, Carbon Trust, Bristol City Council and SWCA's own self generated revenue costs.
St Werburghs Centre is a very busy and accessible community resource for the communities of East Bristol, and Communities of Interest City Wide. The centre offers office space for four voluntary organisations who also work within local communities, and a wide range of meeting rooms, event spaces and facilities. The centre hosts social, cultural, educational, support and advice services. We focus on building mutually beneficial partnerships between groups and organisations in the community.
