AVOID!
The guy's a crook, seems decent enough when you first talk to him, but theres a reason why every window in the shop is smashed.
Its a shame, because you walk in (through the back, not smashed door XD) and it looks like aladdin's cave of amps. There are a few decent vintage things in there, but dont expect any bargains.
Talking to the guy (called steve, who is definitely not an old hippy, more a middle aged sleazejob) you'll recieve a bunch of innuendos and comparisons between guitars and women, and a couple of snippets of advice, however NEVER take your own gear/guitar in there.
Steve used to own a furniture shop (apparently he's still an expert, and really does know his stuff about furniture if you need advice on a cupboard) and somehow down the years came to own a guitar shop. However, he barely plays himself, nor can he fix up guitars, or solder, etc etc etc even by his own admission.
Ok, so he gets someone else in to fix up stuff. However, the guy he gets in is no guitar technician, he's a repairman that fixes fridges for budwieser. No joke. So basically, if you take something in there, it's gonna come back completely jeffed, if at all.
Old Steve has a reputation for robbing people's gear and anything left with him- no other music shop in Bristol will have any thing to do with him, and all have warned me against this shop. He cant fix guitars, cant play, and nothing is cheap either. All he will do is steal from you, mess up your stuff and possibly rip you off too. Avoid like the plague.
But then, what can you expect from a smashed up guitar shop on a rough street full of adult shops and erotic massuers? read more
