After years of being just a church attendee, finally decided to involve myself with church opportunities and I am an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion during the Covid pandemic. The Lord did not strike me down upon entry. That alone gets a star. It's been years, possibly a decade or so since they've remodeled this church and stripped it of any possible sentimentality to me. The back, is now the side. All the little holy water holders on wall have been replaced with one of those new fangled fountains dealies. And I can't even remember if there was any stained glass. There is ample parking, in the lot in the back (now the side) or on the street. Oh well, at least the communion wafers still taste good. read more

I believe my first entrance into this church was during my baptism. Yes, Wally World and I go far back. I spent my weekends there learning that the price for being yelling at your parents was one Our Father and three Hail Marys. My favorite memory during services was playing with my Thomas the Tank Engine toys, a compromise with my parents since they didn't let me make progress on Pokemon Blue in the sanctuary. I, like many of my peers, pleased our parents by showing up, but fail to keep it a part of daily life. I went there recently, and I took note of a couple things: a.) I reaffirmed my religious affiliation as "between secular humanist and spiritual agnostic" b.) That awful electric drum set. Who made the choice to put this in? The cymbal is mostly used to keep time in every song/chant, none of the other pads are used. Every time it is used, there is always a humble cymbal roll officially signifying the end of each song/chant. I'm waiting for the day that the middle-aged to octogenarian fellow in charge of this percussion set breaks out into a Travis Barker production. Stars for nostalgia value, minus stars for that electric drum set. and the word on the street is true: the communion wafers are pretty tasty. read more

Father Mario is indeed one of the best priests I've known in my time. He has grown our church increasing the number of parishioners, added a new building for kindergarteners with another new school building going up in 2019. I feel blessed to call this my church. The staff goes out of there way to accommodate our questions. read more

I wouldn't recommend St. Walters to anyone after the experience I had today with Liz. My fiance and I are both Catholic and were interested in getting married there. After speaking with Liz today she made it very clear that since we are not members of the church we could not get married there. I asked her what it would take to become a member so we could get married there and she said it's not that easy. We only like to cater to those who are currently members. She asked where we were from and I said I am from Lombard, and my fiance is from Roselle. She said well since your fiance is from Roselle she should have been a member here to begin with. So since she refused to give me any information on how to become a member I said so you guys are not taking new members then is that what you're saying? Her answer was "everyone is welcome here at St. Walters"! So I told her you just said that you only cater to your current members. The only answer she could give me was I will have to have father give you a call. Come to find out my fiance's family is a part of the church though she is not. They were furious when I told them the way Liz treated me, and now they are all questioning the decisions being made at St. Walters. One of our close friends said she had the same experience with Liz as well. How a church can have someone like her represent them I have no idea. I felt that since we were not members we were talked down to and treated like crap. The father there is supposed to call me, we will see if he does, and believe me he will hear exactly how Liz treats potential new members. Sad, very sad. read more

When I came to St. Walter's in 2005, I have nothing but good to say about St. Walter's. The Priests are caring and the members are friendly and reach out to you. The Choirs are excellent and The different Organizations are too! Now I have had to step back and have not been able to attend as I want to but this Parish has an Excellent Ministry of Care to Hospital, Nursing Home and Homebound. And they come to me!! To any who criticize I say you get as much as you give!! Try giving your time and your caring to your Church!! Smile at people when you go in!! I did not attend this church prior to its remodel so I can't compare past and present. I can only tell you that right now the Church as a whole (not just structurally) is very inviting. I tend to prefer more traditional churches so I was slightly put off by the architecture at first but the congregation is very warm, friendly, and sincere. They strive to help their parish community and beyond. The principal of the school is also the biggest sweetheart you'll ever meet! read more

This is my parish and it's a great one. The sense of community at St. Walter's is unlike any other church that I've been a part of and it is my home. You can't judge it based on its look or layout. Yeah, the layout isn't the best, but that's not what it's about. I can't imagine going anywhere else. read more

To comment about the ridiculously inaccurate comments about the community of St. Walters church as well as the school. These children are well behaved, well mannered charitable children. Not bullies as suggested. I have never heard such an inaccurate description. We are not "Rich" and my kids are not spoiled nor are they bullies. What they are are respectful and caring members of society. Families sacrifice to send their children to private schools . Accurate facts go a long way. read more

I'm fairly new to going to Mass at St. Walters I've starting attending about 4 months ago. I like the traditional style of the Mass. The layout of the church seems fine to me since I didnt see it before it was remodeled, they can use more room though, it gets crowded. The people seem friendly to me. read more

I LOVE ST. WALTER CHURCH! This community is very warm and inviting. The music is phenomenal. Lot's of people in service ministries, especially the poor. They love the Lord Jesus and want to immitate Pope Francis in following Him in service to all. The community is not perfect, but whose family is? Thanks! read more
