I've been attending catholic masses my entire life and have never come across a church like St. Thomas More Parish. Shortly after moving to Boynton Beach, FL five years ago my husband and I discovered St. Thomas More and never looked elsewhere. Father Vargas and Father Harris have an incredible way of engaging the parishioners with well thought out and relatable content to ponder. Various trips, activities, and fund raisers are offered to parishioners to voluntarily participate. Lastly, I've never seen such beautifully groomed grounds with places for people to reflect, pray, and enjoy. read more

On Sunday December 1st, I asked father Harris to pray for me on my December 2nd scheduled open heart surgery at JFK. Today 4 weeks later I returned to mass to be blessed again by Fr Harris. This church is outstanding. Fathers Harris and Vargas are terrific preachers. Best parish I have ever been associated with.

St. Thomas More Parish. It no longer feels like a church-- it feels more like a store. They seem more focused on selling things and putting on events than on true worship. The stage looks like a theater, not an altar, and I'm truly disappointed with how much the church has changed. I also believe that some of the people who serve there, including some of the leaders--without mentioning names--do not truly respond to the Word of God. read more

It truly breaks my heart to write this. My father has been a devoted member of this church for many years -- he gave his time, his love, and his financial support because he believed deeply in this ministry and the people leading it. After a recent incident that has significantly worsened his health, I reached out to the pastor hoping to talk, to ask for prayer, or even just a few words of comfort. Sadly, my call was never returned. With my father unable to attend services these last few weeks, I honestly thought someone might have noticed -- that a pastor, elder, or member of the congregation would check in to see how he was doing. I've always believed that true ministry means showing up for people when they need you most -- visiting the sick, praying with families, and offering comfort through faith and presence. The silence and lack of compassion during this time have been deeply disappointing and painful. I sincerely hope this church takes a moment to reflect on what it means to care for its people -- not just from the pulpit, but through love, presence, and genuine concern for those who once gave so much. read more

I truly look forward every Sunday to sit in this church and just be peaceful and pray, everyone does such an amazing job decorating and doing the mass, but my most favorite part is, I look forward to hearing Father Vargas and Father Harris we are so truly blessed to have them, I learn so much from listening to them, they truly touch my heart.. I recently attended Easter Mass last Sunday. It was my first time back to St Thomas in about 20 years as I no longer live in Florida but made the trip over to spend the holiday with friends. The Church is beautiful as ever and the grounds are still well kept & welcoming. I made an impromptu stop at the gift shop and was greeted by Valerie, the shop keeper. We ended up having the best talk, and before I knew it an hour had gone by! It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon and it made me feel so welcomed & connected. She has such a passion for the church (as do I). I have so many beautiful childhood memories of St Thomas hosting huge Easter egg hunts in the grassy fields and they would sometimes serve Dunkin Donuts in the courtyard after mass. I hope they bring these little traditions back. I love the new edition of the parakeet cage in the courtyard & it was magical to see so many geese, ducks, squirrels and iguanas roaming the grounds freely. MY ONLY COMPLAINT is that I truly DISLIKE the big flat screen televisions posted up in the church. They are so unnecessary and distracting. The church is designed so that you can have a great view no matter where you sit. The flat screens are unnecessary and they pull you out of the present moment (much like staring at a phone screen does) I hope the church eventually takes them down. It cheapens the whole vibe. Recently I had to arrange for one of my parents funeral. The St Thomas More website provides you with a menu of items to choose from. Our funeral director with my assistance made those selections. The confirmation was given the next day of our choices. Relatives from the north were advised and made their travel arrangements. Then 6 hours later the church informed us - opps no gravesite service. While grieving the loss of a parent, I had to make my way to the parish office on more than a few occasions only to be told, sorry, or you can have the mass the following day or you can go to another church. I asked to speak directly to the priest as my parents who were parishioners for over 45 years and were not only instrumental in the building of that church, but also did numerous fundraisers for the building fund. Their response was the Priest is not available. Then after going back to the office and requesting the Priest to phone me, I did receive a call the following day. Then two days before the Mass we were advised that a Priest would be available for the gravesite. Then on the day of the Mass, a substitute Priest was thrown in at the last minute (and he did exceptionally well considering) they forgot to provide the Priest with the second page of what the family wrote to be read, all of the songs that were chosen from their website were not performed (the singer and organist were incredible) , and the coffin (an average size) and pallbearers could not fit aisle in the chapel. No explanation as to why certain parishioners funeral mass are held in the main church; while others are delegated to the much smaller chapel. While having to deal with St Thomas More during this grieving period, my faith was severely tested and while it is strong enough, it did pass; St Thomas More though failed miserably. I will be looking for a more compassionate parish. read more

Sadden to see that a couple of reviews from visitors give this beautiful church such average rating. Starting with Father Harris and Father Vargas, their dedication, hard work, incredible chemistry and amazing sense of service and humor have made this our family's parish for over 16 years with both our daughters having their first communion and confirmations there. Ann Marie runs this amazing program as well as an incredible school. The altar is overwhelmingly breathtaking and the property is a heavenly gem. I encourage more parishioners to participate in giving this beautiful church the rating it truly deserves. read more

When I attended a few yrs ago one of the priests in a homily was discussing complaints from some parishoners about money spent on parish decor when more could go to help the poor. He said his answer to the poor is to get a job. This was even during a recession. He talked of wearing your best to Mass and if you donate a dollar, you have no right to question how much money is spent on the parish's decor. He said people have walked out of his office because they don't want to hear what he has to say. The comment about the poor made me realize this was not the church for me. read more
