The location is however beautiful and the grounds also. This time my visit took me to the Auditorium to watch the Alhambra Orchestra play a few pieces most notably from Beethoven and Dvorak. A colleague plays French Horn and it was my first time watching him play. The auditorium is spacious with large center aisles; it has two levels and also has ample seating for approximately 300 persons. Alhambra Orchestra is funded through the generous donations of its members and participants. It is not a professional ensemble and all the artists donate their time so that we might enjoy classical music. All of the concerts are free. The next venue is October 29th at the Arsht Center and you can get free tickets online on October 18th. (http://www.arshtcenter.org/mobile/calendar/?srcid=5282&id=5282&epslanguage=en) We were seated in the box seats closest to the Orchestra and which is the best spot to see all of the artists and probably also had the best acoustics. Classical music is definitely not dead. Afterwards, free punch and cookies were served and I spent some time with Alejandro to get his perspective on how he came to be so dedicated to his craft, the French Horn. I learned he practices 1.5 hours a day which on the balance is a lot for an unpaid position. He said he also plays with a professional Orchestra but it does not meet frequently. In contrast, professional positions in the New York Philharmonic Orchestra in will earn starting salaries of $140,000 but they also practice 3 hours daily and meet with the Orchestra another 8 hours. It's a full time job. He had tried to audition 12 years earlier but didn't make the cut. His day job is in IT which pays the bills but Alejandro's passion is the French Horn and perhaps one day he will be able to make it. If you have the opportunity to see a concert here I highly recommend it.

His teacher Ms Sujata is attentive and caring, she is brilliant at observing the child and providing just the right stimulation and support. She played a crucial part in building our son's confidence, developing his social skills, emotional intelligence and broadening his knowledge. She has given us plenty of great tips on how to support our son through various challenges. She is a professional you can trust every step of the way. I really appreciate that the school has a strong value system, so kindness and respect are truly FELT in the classrooms. My son is quite sensitive, so it was precious to have peace of mind and know that he feels safe at school. Last but not least, the school administration has been very responsive and forthcoming to meet all our needs. This kind of flexibility and personal approach is impossible to find anywhere else from my experience. I highly recommend Village Montessori to parents that are looking for excellent early education. It's a classic Montessori school with high standards, the teachers and director regularly advance their education, and we could see how the management are constantly striving to improve things - teachers training, free seminars for parents, events, classroom improvements, etc. We are really grateful to Village Montessori, Ms Sujata, Joan, Mike and the team for creating such a special community and experience during the formative years of our child's life!
