A wonderful, child-centered school. Dedicated teachers and a super director, and opening a full day program for the 2015-2016 school year.

They teach a gospel centered curriculum, teach kids how to pray and the meaning of prayer, and have chapel/worship once a week, so the kids learn about Jesus. They have activities yearly like captain Carl where sea creatures are brought in for the kids to touch. Highly recommended. I've sent my three kids here and plan to send my youngest.

The reason my review is only 2 stars is because the director Laurie is horrible. After the school reopened they changed their structure and must have been overwhelmed because Laurie kicked my son out of the program after 2 days. My son is energetic and needed time to adjust to routine and structure. I put him in school to learn to socialize with other kids not because I needed childcare. They were unwilling to work with me to improve his behavior. As a nurse working in the pandemic I understand the stress of COVID and the importance of communication with family members. Laurie does not understand this concept and decided to give up on my sweet child. If you are looking for a preschool and your child is energetic I would highly recommend looking elsewhere because they don't have the patience or willingness to help your child learn.

During the…read morefirst day, my wife made sure to let them know that my daughter doesn't yet know how to go on the swing on her own and that's something we are working on. On the second week of this program, during the last 10 mins where they separate the parents and let the kids play on the playground, one of the teacher's aide put her on the swing by herself, pulled her back, and pushed her forward. My daughter flipped backwards off the swing, spun in the air, and landed facedown on the ground. My wife ran out and quickly checked on my daughter and took her home. We called the pediatrician's office to see if we needed to bring her in to check for signs of concussion. After this happened, the school never once called to see how she was doing. The next day, we got a hold of the director and spoke to her about this incident. She tried to downplay it equating it to a minor fall/scrapes. No, this was not just a minor fall but a dangerous accident that happened in the hands of the teacher's aide. She then let us know that the way they work the swing is they first ask the child if they know how to go on and if the child say 'yes' and their hands are on the chains, they can go ahead and push the child. So they ignore what the parent told them during orientation, do not take any precautions when pushing a small child on the swing as long as the child said 'yes' to the swing? This is highly reckless and dangerous! We canceled our enrollment and never coming back here. Parents beware!

But soon enough, I started to feel comfortable with the caring staff, and my daughter--now a college student--still remembers them fondly. Now, years later, my niece (kindergarten) and nephew (toddler class) attend Great Beginnings. It's so heartwarming to see that some of the same wonderful staff are still there after all this time. Our family has had such a positive experience over the years. We love that Great Beginnings provides breakfast, lunch, and supper, along with a weekly music class and dance class. One of my favorite things is attending the Christmas, Halloween, and Graduation performances--seeing my niece and nephew on stage is always such a joy. I'm truly happy that our family continues to be a part of the Great Beginnings community!

She is very hands on and is an amazing teacher. They are allowed to be children and explore the world around them. They do gardening, play in the mud, and many outdoor activities where they can learn through play. The children are taught values: how to be kind and respectful, how to be a good friend and of course academics. The smaller class size means that your child will get better quality of education versus a class of 29 in public school. After my 4th child graduated kindergarten, it was a no brainer for me to enroll my 5th child at Rise and Shine. My 5th child has learned and grown so much since starting kindergarten! He developed love for God and enjoys praying and reading his bible before going to bed. Don't be fooled though, the academic portion of the kindergarten class is really challenging and at the end of the day your child will surprise you with what he's learned in class. We really love Teacher Jeannie and Rise and Shine. I have nothing but praise and gratitude for them. Even if you have Teacher Jeannie as your teacher, you will feel that the school has a family atmosphere. Every one knows your child by name and truly cares. My only regret is not discovering them sooner with my 3 older children and I still pray that they open up elementary classes! That would be the dream!

Every teacher at this school has been working there many years, which gave us a huge comfort in knowing we would have familiar faces through every stage. Every teacher knows kids from all classrooms by name and all kids know each other too. It's like family! My daughter started here at 5 months old and she's now 2 1/2. We have been so happy with all our teachers and experiences! The infant teacher is especially amazing and my son will be starting this fall in the infant room just like my daughter did. If you're looking for a school for your kids to grow at, this is definitely the place. The class sizes are small, the teachers put so much effort into every child, and they bring home the sweetest projects for holidays as well. They even offer TK & K with after care which is a great option for working parents. I couldn't recommend Rise & Shine enough!

Oh and if you just couldn't bring yourself to pack their lunches/snacks no worries, they can provide snacks and a home cooked lunch for an incredibly reasonable price!
