It's small and intimate (probably less than 200 seats) which allows the audience to connect with the performers. I have seen various shows by American Stage and am always impressed with how they can transform the stage. I also love that they bring the set into the audience! The theatre is location on the second floor and has a service area where you can purchase beer, wine, and even liquor before a performance or during intermission. The theatre is currently requiring guests to show vaccination and wear masks during the show.

Last night, the band sounded HORRIBLE. They were too loud. They sound muffled/muddied/etc. My friend and I tried sitting in different parts of the venue: no difference. I don't know if it was them or the soundman. I went out to the lobby a couple of times to buy beers & other people were: 1) Saying the same thing. 2) Leaving early. 3) Even people that worked at the Palladium said the same thing. I've been going to The Palladium since 1992. That was the worst sounding show I've ever heard there. Just letting you know. Good luck!

One of the fundraising efforts is, selling a seat, starting at $1,000. As usual, they seat the late comes; a few patrons non stop talking; candy wrappers ... for a moment, it feels like a zoo or among kindergartners. I've seen a bunch of entertainment shows but nothing beats how "magical" this experiences was in St Pete. No words can describe how incredible this show was and is definitely worth seeing the magic for yourself. The closer you sit the better the magic gets. And if you want a little more magic to experience, definitely see Neil's close up pre show magic. There's a bunch of magic tricks I'm still mind blown about. Ryan and Chris story line with how the show came together was heart warming, and what was even better was not only putting on a great show but also getting kids and families involved into the show itself. 10/10 recommended for families and for adults like my self who also want to get a good laugh in as well. Our latest outing here was for ONE NIGHT OF QUEEN. It was louder than we wanted (Apple Watch went off many times warning of hearing loss). The light show was amazing. The musical side was good, but not spectacular (why could we not understand what they were singing for the first 4 obscure Queen songs?). We look forward to attending more events here.

I went to a purchase a ticket for the Saturday night Whose Line show, but it sold out! I called and they said they have a few overflow seat accommodations, and I should come anyway. Even sitting off to the side on a chair, I had the time of my life. I truly can't wait to come back. All improv, lots of audience inspo, and just soooo much fun. All the players were great and I'm really looking forward to bringing my friends next time! A few snacks/canned bevvies for purchase. About 30 seats for the show. This is the second time we've partnered with Spitfire for one of our veteran events, and their team continues to impress us with their professionalism, flexibility, and ability to deliver a truly fun evening. They are incredibly easy to work with, and the show was absolutely hilarious. The audience participation felt natural and welcoming, never forced, allowing those who wanted to join in to do so comfortably. By the end of the night, our group was full of laughter and gratitude, with many giving the experience rave reviews. In fact, several veterans were already planning to return for one of Spitfire's free Wednesday night events! That kind of response says everything about the quality of entertainment and care Spitfire provides. I recently attended a performance of Verdi's Requiem in the Morsani Hall at the Straz Center in…read moreTampa. The box office experience was easy, and I found my seat to be comfortable. It was my first time in Morsani Hall and I liked the acoustics very much. There was a brief fundraising speech before the show, but this is pretty normal these days. The orchestra was playing with a choir and solo singers, and there was a translation screen to inform the listener the translated lyrics. The orchestra's sound was intense and dark when the choir and soloists sang Verdi's lyrics of wrath and judgement, and silky and seamless during the ethereal pleas to join those saintly souls in heaven. Michael Francis, the conductor, didn't let his movements distract from the performance--I thought he melded his direction well with the swells and dramatics of the work. Overall, though the piece was long and my attention wavered here and there, the presentation and professionalism of the group impressed and delighted me. I've also attended a free pops concert at the Water Tower Park in Tampa, and can say that the group sounds equally good indoors as outdoors. Thumbs up, TFO!

We've been to a few concerts that were conducted by Michael Francis (1975?-): a likable young man, with humors, a graduate of Cardiff University School of Music. The pianist is Spanish Javier Perianes (1978-) who's pretty short, who doesn't have a list of impressive schools. I enjoyed his playing. When it was done, he returned quickly to give a Chopin encore, without much claps. While he was playing the Chopin, Francis stood at the side of the stage - I thought that's a nice gesture. At the beginning of the concert, of course someone would go to the stage and give a speech. Tonight it's a chubby woman... who probably spent years climbing or paid handsomely to be in that position. She opened up by bragging that TFO Florida Orchestra is world class. But her presence really cheapens the evening. Mostly, she thanks the sponsors. I even saw Rick Steves (1955-), the travel guru's name on the screen. After conductor takes stage, people are still allowed to come in. The ushers are volunteers. I joked to one, "you should go to New York." One of my tennis buddies Susan who's a retired teacher, does the usher circuit, from MSG to baseballs ... and gets paid in 3 digits even event.
