Our group of fiends have been coming out here for the last five years for scrapbooking retreats…read more The location is great, about 1 hour east from north Edmonton and 15 minutes south of Vegreville. This bed and breakfast is run by a couple named Ramona and Wayne who take very good care of the property. The big white barn is excellent for scrapbookers, wedding receptions and family reunions. With plenty of windows for lighting and fresh air, two washrooms, a fridge, stove, microwave, coffee, tv and lots of tables and chairs, it can accommodate any crowd up to 130 people. The bedrooms are located upstairs of the barn. There are four spacious rooms each with a queen bed and a hide-a-bed, single bed or cots to fit four to five people in each. Each room has a bath tub and shower, mini fridge and tv. The facilities are very clean and well maintained. The area has space for RV parking and nature trails. It is quiet and peaceful so also great for a weekend getaway. They have an outside dog and a few cats who come say hi once in a while. Just off the Yellowhead Highway and very easy to get to. Ramona is wonderful and will make sure you have an enjoyable stay.

They provide "breakfast" BUT in reality they just send you to the gas station cafe to pick it up. The breakfast is fast food style and basically 1 breakfast sandwich, a freezer hash brown & a muffin. Coffee & tea but no juice. They give it to you in a plastic grocery bag and send you on your way. Meanwhile the actual cafe makes real breakfast if you want to pay. Apparently there is a bed and breakfast in town that is the best place to stay at.

It would be more secure if it required a key FOB. No one was available at the front desk because we were a late check in. I called the Super 8 and there was no answer. There was a note to visit the next door Esso (shouldnt their phone be automatically set up to forward to Esso after hours?). The people at the Esso were nice, but this set up does not meet the standards of a conventional Super 8. The breakfast was also offered in the Esso gas station. The staff was friendly, but I was not expecting to eat breakfast at a gas station diner. The food was decent and there were options to purchase from the regular menu with a discount, which i appreciate, but it's not the conventional hotel breakfast. Such details should be made explicit to guests when booking. The room was clean, but 1 of the towels looked less than clean. There are no towel racks to hang towels. The beds were comfy, but the air conditioner was so loud I was unable to sleep. The air conditioner was located under the window and it blew the curtains open. I used the TV remote to keep the curtains shut. The staff was all very nice. However, I don't think this accommodation meets the expectations of the Super 8 brand or a conventional 2 star rating.
