This is a very tiny square on the Southside of Edinburgh. God knows why it holds the name of the main Irish patron saint, it could be possible that a small community of Irish used to live there. If you see pictures of the place from 1900s you would hardly spot any difference, apart from the fact that there are different shops now but the buildings have not gone under any changes. The place is very popular during the Fringel as it offers festival apartments. Most of the space on the square is taken up by parked cars. There is a gate connecting Nicolson street with the main buildings of Edinburgh university. read more
