St Morris Upholsterers is a family run business that's been in operation in Adelaide since the mid 1950's. These people are true craftsmen and are highly experienced in a craft that just isn't practiced as widely today as it once was. I went though a stage a few years back when I bought several old chairs and a sofa from antique shops and had them reupholstered by the guys from St Morris. The chairs and sofa were in an awful state with springs sticking out of the seats and they just weren't usable as they were. They were however stunning old pieces of furniture that simply needed a lot of TLC. After what must have been a great deal of hard work from the guys at St Morris, I ended up with the most stunning sofa covered in a pale blue fabric and two cream chairs and I still have them. One chair is in my bedroom and the other in the office. The reupholster and restoration process wasn't cheap but I really did end up with true investment pieces of furniture that have lasted for years. I know the same people are still running St Morris Upholsterers because I have referred friends to them over the years and everyone has been equally happy with the work done. Go and visit them in their store on Magill Road. You can take your old piece of furniture in for a makeover or they have some stock that's already restored and waiting for a new home.
