It was a big transition for her - first time at boarding school and a much more rigorous academic environment. She felt supported and adapted quickly. It is a well-rounded school set in one of the most stunning environments - everyone who visits makes the comment that it's like Hogwarts...I say it's like a West Coast Hogwarts. The teachers are readily available and the school provides ample time for studying. Even with a demanding hockey schedule, our daughter is doing well. We feel very fortunate that we were able to access this amazing school through their generous financial aid. I wanted to leave a review (something I rarely do), because I often use Siri while driving to SLS to gauge how long the drive to Shawnigan will take me from Victoria...and I'm tired of Siri saying "Shawnigan Lake School with 1-star on Yelp?" While I have no doubt the reviewer from 2018 didn't like their experience...our daughter loves it and worked hard to make the team and to be accepted into the school. Of course, not all students (or adults for that matter!) are motivated and community-minded. But our experience has shown that the vast majority of the students are supportive and are driven in academics, arts and athletics. I can't recommend SLS enough - we are thrilled our daughter is able to experience this exceptional community!

Stuck with roommates who threw me under the bus, got called up and…read morebooed A LOT at house meetings to sing happy bday for aholes who think they're the s**t, ran 6-12 laps on half of the nights as physical punishment for failing my housekeeping job inspected by power trippers and haters, got owned by jerks who deliberately made a mess when I was doing wiping or scraping duty(they would smear ketchup all over their plates and sprinkle salts on the table to give me a hard time), got bullied and insulted on a regular basis, alternated between fear, worry, depression and anger(can you imagine this madness for 3 consecutive years?), ripped off a fortune by the accounting department, paying v steep tuition(3x for international student) yet there was always a shortage of mediocre food(sometimes cordon bleu straight from Walmart)during lunch and dinner, the list goes on FOREVER. I seriously needed booze cuz 1. I almost lost the courage to face life 2. I'm well on the way of becoming a generic drunken indian, whose life is ruined by the school instead of by the canadian gov. I called it a shithole, Nazi camp, jail. Now that I watched the movie hostel, it's exactly hostel without the physical torture, but mental torture hell ya it's served very on point. In essence, Shaw is the holy grail of messed-up-ness, where the athletic, powerful, and popular wannabes rise to the top while the nice, meek, and deserving kids are ruthlessly weeded out with jackbooted societal conditioning.

Sadly not wide eyed from the eagerness of learning but from fear. For many it's their first time away from their primary caregiver or it's their first day in a Canadian school or it's their first day away from an unhealthy and unstable home life. Some children wonder what scary and uncertainty awaits them in this big and new home away from home. At the end of their first year these children are vastly different. These children walk straighter and more confident because they finally feel seen, heard and acknowledged for the first time in their short existence. For each child right along with the family is welcomed, embraced and supported. Far too many parents feel all this for the very first time in their lives. This is what awaits you at George Jay elementary if you are willing to let them in. I gave them 4/5 stars simply becasuse they are still working at getting the place more wheelchair accessible not only for students but for their staff as well. It's a start!

When I first started to look for preschools in Langford I was disappointed to find that there weren't many options, most places I found were day cares trying to pass themselves off as a preschool. Pussywillow is not a daycare, the curriculum is strictly that of a school and the staff have targets and objectives (along with lots of fun, play, and free time) for the children to strive to so that that are well prepared for Kindergarden. I've ven spoken to Kindergarden teachers who can tell if they child went to Pussywillow simply by how they are doing not only academically but also emotionally as well. I would recommend this preschool to anyone, the staff are warm and welcoming and genuinely care about each child that goes there.

I appreciate that their teaching focuses on child-led learning via play, art (a moment of praise for their art cove!), music, the outdoors, & all within a supportive structure of community. My kids have thrived here, my oldest even formed strong bonds of friendship that have carried with him into Kindergarten. Allison & the entire staff are clearly very knowledgeable in all elements of childhood education & their dedication to our island kids & community is unmatched! Also, There appears to be lectures and events open to the public. There are a number of department faculty teaching wide array of academic disciplines. The political science department is particularly impressive and has a good mix of courses in international and domestic politics. It is an easy bus ride from downtown Victoria too. A very nice campus to visit and be a student in.

I've seen many other daycare centres too, but never been able to choose any other place over this. I really recommend this place as a first choice for the kids to my family and friends as I was never able to find any other place that can provide even close service for my child in terms of cleanliness, organization, routines, food, teachers care and love, and so much more. I can always access anytime what my child is doing via the web cameras and whenever I do, my child is always busy learning something. The director (Grace) always makes sure that parents know all that is going on in the centre and is related to our kids. I trust the teachers for the care they provide to all the children. They do their job ina perfect way by not just taking care of the kids but also making them self-dependent. I also like how transparent the system is in the organization. The parents are made aware of not just the positives, but also about the negatives of the organization. I'm glad to have selected the best place for my child.

She couldn't fine her place, cried every single day for for full days, and when I wanted to pull it out, they never returned my calls or my money back, they just ignored my e-mails and messages. It never crossed my mind that a "Corporate" Company would create a bad reputation with one customer after waiting for over one year to hear back from them.... For me integrity and honesty is the foundation of any business.
