St. Paul's was built in its current location in 1872 and designed by notable Gothic church architect, Gordon Lloyd. The Gothic-style facade is made up from stones carried over sledges hauled over drawn ice along the the Flint River well over a century ago. St. Paul's initial structure was erected elsewhere in the the city in 1817. Architecturally-speaking, this particular church takes the cake. I think it not only rivals First Presbyterian, located just across the street, but rather surpasses it in terms of sheer beauty. There's never the high pressure pitch from the church members hosting events here to join their church or " or "come to worship services, get to know the Lord better," either, so that's nice. In other words, no one has ever has me if I've found Jesus or anything like that. I wish my husband and I had chosen this church over the one we did for our wedding when we got married. Sigh. I can just think of how the pictures would have turned out now if we had...
