Hello Church Family!…read more My husband and I visited this church while visiting our friend who attends this church. The sermon by Pastor Jay is so solid. I really felt nourished by both the Word delivered and the music played by one man on a guitar. It was all so wonderful and homey. The congregation is small and so so genuine. They have lunch provided by a member of the congregation directly after service followed by a wonderful bible study around 1pm. The service is at 10:30am. I highly recommend this church! We will certainly be back when we visit our friend! They were so so welcoming and sweet.

The sermons are not your typical topical sermons. They are gospel-focused, teaching through the whole Bible and not skipping around random verses every week. The children's pastor is also so great with the kids; feels like a real family. My kids love going to church every Sunday. I attended a large mega-church for 9 years, but have definitely grown more spiritually at this smaller church. If you are looking for a church where you can really grow spiritually, and be part of a church family and not be ignored, this is the church for you!

I am the pastor of the church and it is a privilege to serve these disciples of Christ. As we…read morestudy and proclaim the scriptures, we also look for ways to practice our faith and to seek the justice God proclaims today. We are multicultural and LGBTQ affirming. We love good music and on any given Sunday you may hear classical music, global hymns, gospel or jazz. Children play an active role in the church and we seek to welcome them through children's bulletins and bibles, a children's sermon, and sometimes having the kids lead music or read scripture lessons. Worship is at 10:30. We serve Communion once a month and offer anointing for healing and wholeness by the Deacons once each season. Baptism is available to all ages, with the expectation that you remain part of the community to grow in faith. Sunday School for children and adults is at 9:30 am. We have 3 age- appropriate classes for pre-k through middle schoolers, and an adult bible study as well. We have occasional youth group activities such as the confirmation lock-in and preparing a meal to serve at the Family Promise shelter. The church offers 8 weekly English Conversation Classes for the community, taught by volunteers. We support the Oelhaff House shelter for survivors of domestic violence, Center for Food Action, and CoFiA and First Friends, which are both groups that work for immigration justice. Jazz Jam meets the 2nd Friday each month, at 8 pm, where musicians of all ages and skills come to share their music and build community. You are welcome to check us out!

IF you are actually willing to open yourself up to the Holy Spirit and do some work. Faith without good works is feckless, you know? One of our requirements for a church was that the church was a "working church". Meaning that they actually had to be about it, not just preach about it. A church not willing to serve beyond the walls of the physical church is not seriously concerned with following Jesus. Imperfect people being transformed by a perfect God. When I started looking for a church Metro was, by far, the friendliest of the 5 I visited. I adore our pastoral staff, led by Pastor Peter Ahn. He is extremely vulnerable and open in word and in practice. I'd never seen anything like it. I respect it so much because he removes all the normal bluster I've seen from the pulpit. He has been an excellent role model and I can honestly say it's made me a better person. Metro has great children's programs on Sunday morning. I've seen the impact on the children in my family. It's a great way to introduce them to Jesus in a way they can understand. They also have a variety of groups (formerly known as small groups) for different activities and studies. Through out the year they offer learning sessions that focus on lessons of the bible. Right now I'm taking a Racial Reconciliation course. If you are a regular attendee your best bet is to join a ministry to serve with - women's, children's ministry, men's ministry, or media ministry. It's a great way to get to know the congregation. Metro also has a whole branch dedicated to social justice advocacy - JAC. It's very plugged in to Englewood and offers a lot of additional volunteer opportunities to serve the people of the city and act as God's hand and feet.

I was told they could not pray for me because I wasn't a member. I left feeling confused and hurt. I believe a church should be open to supporting anyone who walks in, especially those asking for help. Unfortunately, this experience made me feel excluded during a time I was seeking spiritual support. I hope the leadership reflects on how moments like this can impact someone deeply. The retreat itself was well-organized, and the message was strong. But for me, it ended with disappointment, not connection.
