Whenever I find myself in Europe I love to seek…read morethem out and explore to take in the art and architecture, as often in the old world churches and cathedrals housed some of the great cultural artifacts of the time. Dom St. Bartholomaus doesn't disappoint. It's a gorgeous church that's free to enter and walk around. If they are holding service you may need to wait until they are done, but it's worth it as this one is chock full of gorgeous artifacts and artworks to enjoy. If you love museums I recommend paying the very cheap entry fee - I think maybe two euros - to their small museum which is to the left as you enter. It's small, but houses some really amazing religious antiquities. Only pro tip I have is that like many church in Europe there are no public restrooms. If you're in Frankfurt there is no reason not to stop and take in this beautiful landmark!

From what I gathered from looking at the pictures on the wall this used to be a church, more a protestant church as opposed to a Catholic one (Protestant churches do tend to be boring on the artistic side of things). However, that is no longer the case, but for a time it was also used as a parlaimentary building, and they go into details about that as well. However, these days it is just a conference centre, though it does have some historical interest, which is why you can enter and have a walk around inside.

Experiencing only minor damage during the Allied bombing during World War II, it is very modern inside and looking like it's just gotten a fresh coat of paint. Interesting to hear from our tour guide some of the more modern history of this church, especially to know that Jim Morrison and the Doors were here when they toured Europe in the 1970's. Definitely worth a stop on your tourism in Frankfurt.

It's a great place to start your exploration of Frankfurt. You'll be surrounded by beautiful architecture. There will be a statue for you to check out. It's a touristy area, sure (so I wouldn't have a meal in the area), but it's also a place locals go to congregate and hang out. With Germany getting bombed heavily during WWII, Römerberg still gives you the feeling of old school Germany. And while I wasn't there in December, if you are, you'll be able to check out the famous Christmas markets Germans are known for. Spend a little time here, walk around, and take it all in.

I got to try so much food from multiple vendors. And even got to ride the carousel. And the center piece of the night is clearly the Christmas tree! Absolutely stunning! This is my second time visiting Römerberg. Outside of Christmas time this place is a beautiful plaza rich with history and it has plenty of restaurants and shops around.
