The Island and Castle were larger than I thought. The achitecture and interior were gorgeous and impressive. From what I remember, I think the gift shop accepts both currencies.

Boldt, millionaire proprietor of the world famous Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, set out to build a full size rhineland castle in Alexandria Bay, on picturesque Heart Island.  The grandiose structure was to be a display of his love for his wife, Louise. The structures on the island were amazing! I personally LOVE architecture and history so this was a fantastic experience! Had it been Pre-Covid times, we would have been able to disembark from the boat and explored the island, as the Americans were doing. But because it is technically on the American side of the St Lawrence River, and because of the pandemic, we could only admire it from afar. We can't wait for warmer weather so we can go back and visit!

It was an amazing experience going on a boat ride in thousand islands. You can choose from 3…read morepackages: 1-hour, or 3-hour, or 5-hour ride; each one with a different route. We thought the 3-hour trip was the most suitable one for us since it's not that short that you miss a lot of the islands and not that long to be tiring. The 5-hour boat ride will drop you off at the Boldt Castle so that you can explore the castle at your own pace. The islands are very beautiful and it's nice to pass by the cottages and mansions and learn more about some of them. The guided tour is specifically helpful as you learn more about the history as well.

It's right off the highway which made it as convenient as we needed it to be since we were not playing tourista and only needed to meet family at a resto reunion, no access to downtown on foot required. The room was super clean and quiet, the quiet being the result of my ask to be as far away from noise given the 2 queen bed rooms still available when I booked. The bathroom looked newly renovated and equally spotless. We were given our 3 keys and it was the most comfortable night we had of the 3 hotels we stayed at (here besides our Ottawa Best Western and Montreal Hotel Alt.) Breakfast was the good old classic chain hotel continental standard. I really had to give the whole layout the once-over to make sure I could get exactly what I would like given their offerings. I really had to work for my 2 decaf coffees! One pod in the room, and get someone at front desk to brew my a.m. one. These guys are smart and know where to keep costs down while keeping the most important things in good working order! I believe one other recent change is that the bathroom products are Dove instead of some "premium" brand previously. Fine with me, I use a lot of Dove at home bc I think it's great stuff. My favourite part is where the price I was quoted at booking is EXACTLY what I'm told I owe when we checked out, and that's an important part of why this hotel is the only review with 5 stars compared to Best Western and Hotel Alt (by Germain.) I will start looking for Holiday Inn chain hotels instead of BW or Germain from now on. My only beef is with the mandatory IHG vacation time sell pitch you have to listen to and fob off sales talk for if you want extra IHG loyalty points. Won't ever bother with that again since I don't travel so much and hate rewards incentives instead of up front cash costs anyway. 100% recommend Holiday Inn Express based on this and previous stays at other locations.

A few weeks ago, my daughter called me and said that we should go on a "Staycation". I did not know…read morewhat this meant. She explained that many people were doing this to save money in transportation when going to other places. It meant we stay in Kingston, where we live, and enjoy re-discovering our town, taking tours, we had not done before, disconnecting for a few days of our jobs, and most important, spending time just us: mother and daughter. What a wonderful surprise it was for me to arrived at Frontenac Club to spent 3 days together. This boutique hotel is one of a kind located in the heart of downtown Kingston. We parked the car in the parking lot of the hotel during all our stay, as we were able to walk to the sites we wanted to visit. Also, within walking distance are the best restaurants in town. We were given two marvelous suites, one with a full living room, king bed, and an astonishing bathroom with a bathtub. The other one was also very impressive with all the amenities needed. Both suites were impeccable clean! Every morning, we went down to their restaurant called "The Bank" where we had a well served and complete breakfast (included), and the last day we dine there (tapas), accompanied by life music and the tastiest margaritas I have ever had. Frontenac Club personnel make a special point to get to know their guests. With 20 suites, all with different themes and sizes, they catered families, singles and couples. They have a sweet bar and small arcade for children, a lounge to read and play games, a patio to relax, enjoy the weather while having meals served also there. It is important to note that Frontenac Club is a heritage historic house build in 1871, and although it has been completely and beautifully renovated, it has kept its special character. It was home to one of the first Canadian Bank of Montreal, and therefore there is a vault, so large that it has been conditioned to host business meetings or private celebrations. I highly recommend staying at Frontenac Club. If you are celebrating an anniversary, or a family gathering (my brother and his family stayed here when they visited us from overseas), or if you are celebrating another special occasion, or coming to Kingston as a tourist, or as a staycation guest, you will not be disappointed!

Coolest Fantasy Rooms Ever! I was so excited to find out about this from my co-worker who loves to…read moretravel and go on adventures ^^ And this is a truly memorable experience, and definitely worth driving 272km from Toronto! No other Best Westerns offer these type of rooms, except for this one in Kingston, so definitely one-of-a-kind in Ontario! I actually brought my husband here to celebrate his milestone birthday, and I wanted to make sure it is extra special. When I told him we are going on a surprise getaway in Kingston... he asked me what is there to do in Kingston? lol. I didn't say anything ;) The room we got was the Tranquility Room with an outer space theme! Thank you to the reception desk staff for helping me keep it a secret :D Husband was COMPLETELY mind blown when he switch on the lights - the space capsule lid up, there was an astronaut, beautiful wall decors, crater rocks and purple crystals - it was SO. EFFING. COOL. The space capsule was our bedroom on the 3rd level, a jacuzzi tub on the 2nd and an awesome lounging area on the 1st. I absolutely loved the theatre-styled love seat; you can even extent it out to relax with your feet up! Each area is equipped with a TV (even the bathroom!), husband was happy he didn't miss the playoffs lol. Champagne and strawberries comes with the Fantasy Room package, which was a nice touch. Also complementary breakfast delivered in your room or buffet-styled at Bistro Stefan on the main floor. We quickly ate at the bistro for dinner that night and went back to continue to enjoy the room lol. There is also a bar/lounge/resto called Tom's Place across from the bistro if you want some causal drinking and snacking ;) Overall, we really enjoyed our time at Best Western Fireside Inn. This is great for couples for a quick getaway lol and even family with kids - they are going to absolutely love this out-of-this-world experience! Book now :D!

The colours are gorgeous and warm and the huge organ looming over the stage is impressive as heck, I'd love to hear it played. As a venue for a market, it was perfect as well. Not too chilly inside, nice lighting for looking at lovely handmade goods, and spacious enough for crowds to explore without feeling claustrophobic. I'll definitely look out for other opportunities to see shows in this beautiful heritage building on Queen's University campus.
