Those experiences wouldn't have been possible for me, were it not for my exhibited projects at NYSID. There are other exceptional interior design programs throughout the United States, while NYSID continues to be ranked among the highest, both in their accredited Undergraduate and Graduate programs. One reason, is their sole emphasis on interior design studies. Personally, NYSID also filled-in the gaps of where I lacked in education, when I attended public schools in Florida. To learn history, philosophy, art and humanities via an interior design curriculum has stayed with me to this day - a valuable foundation to any architecture and design experiences that I'm exposed to. Additionally, these essential studies help me relate with people from different cultural and demographic backgrounds - at times leading to fulfilling design projects. Attending NYSID also afforded me my first opportunities to travel abroad - St. Petersburg and London, by invitation from professors putting together design tours. Since then, I've traveled extensively where "experiencing" interior design has enriched my sensibilities and personal growth. NYSID's esteemed faculty, talented students and notable board members are a collaborative and supportive academic community, that is committed to excellence. And, the Beaux-Arts period building, itself in the tree-lined Upper East Side neighborhood is a place of inspiration and resource, that houses a well-curated design and decoration library. Today, as a successful sole practitioner in Florida, my foundation with NYSID continues to prove both practical and meaningful. Requests for help with my online account were ignored completely for months! The staff was rude, lacked follow through on basic requests for assistance, and demonstrated zero accountability across multiple departments. It was the most bizarre experience I've ever had. Not a single person I dealt with (academic advisor, registrars office, dean's assistant, AND the Dean herself) was interested in assisting with a simple request to adjust my registration start date. As a result they proceeded to enroll me in classes for the wrong semester and attempted to charge me approximately 13,000 dollars for classes I wasn't in! Every person I spoke to blamed a different department member and no one took the initiative to assist, all claiming there was nothing they could do. I ended up having to contact an attorney to get the charges removed. I will NEVER recommend this school and have never dealt with such a circus in my life. This institution sorely lacks accountability and professionalism which was extremely disappointing. There are several other AMAZING design schools out there to choose from (Savannah College of Art and Design and Pratt Institute for example), so if you'd like to focus on your passion for design and receive a quality education without the unnecessary stress and nonsense, definitely steer clear of this school.

She returned my call promptly and setup a meeting with her and Ty. Met with them 2 days later and they were so receptive and open we locked in the workshop that day. During our meeting I learned how instrumental the site was to the community. There is a full time educational program/ pre school there during the days and lots of recreational activities such as basketball, dance and exercise in the evenings and on weekends. There are also about 4 rooms that community residents can use to hold parties and events. The spaces are clean and full equipped to serve your needs and with clean bathroom facilities Can't say enough about how hospitable all the staff members were. We must do our due diligence to ensure institutions like this stay in our communities and that the people who provide the services are taken care of.

He is very welcoming and nice and he even sang a little portion of a song with the Vice President of the Manhattan and Brooklyn campuses. They ordered pizzas and beverages for the staff and the students which was very nice. To be completely honest, I was a bit apprehensive about coming to Mercy College after my previous college closed down. However, I'm glad that I decided to continue my education with Mercy College. There were major renovations that were not addressed previously but Mercy College made sure to repair what needed to fixed to accommodate its students. That speaks volumes to me because it was important to the students. I'm excited about what the year holds for me and my fellow classmates. Way to go Mercy!
