The pastors are kind, compassionate, and inspiring. I've felt more fellowship here in just a few short months than I ever did in my former church, which I had been a part of for my entire life. The church community has grown drastically, and even though they expanded the church itself to triple the size it was, during mass, it is still packed. That is how popular this church is. They offer a lot of masses throughout the week and there are always events and special masses going on. I don't attend mass as often as one should; a lot of us are guilty on that. The community is so welcoming though and to just attend one, you may enjoy it enough to go back. It's so beautiful inside and new. I have been to masses here once or twice these past few years. They're fine. I guess. I do like the style of this place. Has the old stained glass brick and mortar feel to it. The clergy are welcoming to all. The clergy obviously take their job of preaching very seriously and the sermons are usually inspiring and often challenging ... two things a sermon should be! The atmosphere is one of inclusion and welcome and not exclusion and judgment. The religious education program has well over 1000 students. The youth programs, led by a dynamic youth minister are very well attended with hundreds of teens on the membership list. The elementary school is a real gem with teachers who have been there for decades! Get there early if you want a seat ... especially at the 10am Mass. A full church is a sign that they're doing something right!

We were at the clothes closet this past Saturday and a purse broke through the plastic bag. A large tote purse so that was put in the car. As we were getting some clothes this male parishioner went up to my husband and said this is your third bag. Now we donate lots of clothes to the church over the past ten years. Recycling is terrific. However I feel that is no parishioners place to say such words to people. They are not his belongings. Nor should he cover them in anyway. They are gifts by the parishioners and others. This could have been potentially humiliating to another individual. No one knows the circumstances people have. And is most ungodly to covet gifts given in charity by others. It just so happened we brought two bags of donations that day and I myself assisted in putting our numerous pairs of shoes. The male parishioner did apologize after he was taken up verbally on the matter. I would hope the church would address this behavior at Sunday worship to remind the workers not to verbally accuse others of unbefitting behavior. I had worked for a local homeless agency in the next town for over ten years and we would never approach a person if we thought they had to much. It wasn't our place. Even morally. We gave out what we had until it was gone. A good reminder is that these are gifts meant for people and to take what they need. It is not a state agency with criteria and restriction. Nor in anyway a place where prior lists for things are needed and paperwork filled out and approved. It a church of giving and the good Lord gives without any scoldings. For shame on this individual.

We literally lived on their 2nd floor for a whole week through a mission organization called Touch The World and got to experience all the joy and blessings that came through serving the people of Lynn alongside the awesome folks at ECIC :) Their arms are so stretched out and touching everyone in the community. From the Haven Project, the MetroKids, the food pantry, the LOTH coffee shop, to the My Brothers' Table - everything they do have the well-being of the people of Lynn in mind, physically, mentally, spiritually. I highly recommend checking out the Sunday services at 9:45, 11, and 12:30 (dang - I still remember it after saying it hundreds of time throughout that one week). Everyone is welcome and when they say everyone, they really mean EVERYONE. They will welcome you with open arms. There is also children program called "All City Kids" and youth program called "All City Youth" if you got kids of those age.

I was surprised by the diversity and acceptance of all that were in attendance. People of all ages and backgrounds just appeared to be at ease. Everyone was all smiles and very welcoming. Being in my twenties and not knowing what to expect, I was super nervous to attend as I have mostly been to Catholic churches in the past and not regularly. But I was at ease almost immediately. I signed my children into the kid's programs they offer before service started. There are various programs for kids of all ages (Lil' City Babies for ages 0-2, a nursery; Lil' City Kids for ages 3-4; and All City Kids, for ages 5-11). They really interact in such a positive way in all these children's lives. My children left so happy, excited to share their experience, and with a desire to return. I mean what kids honestly say they cannot wait to go back to church????? Well, here at ECIC, your kids will!! The adult service is so refreshing and relatable. There is music, a great sermon, and even good coffee lol. They also have a Wednesday service that follows with small groups so that you can reflect on what was discussed. I have gone every week since and wouldn't have it any other way. For the first time EVER, I feel like I can get close to Jesus in a way I didn't know was possible and it is because of this loving, accepting community. ECIC gives back to the community on so many levels, check it out, don't be shy. There is no parking lot which can be a bummer, but there is street parking available.
