Funeral homes are not exactly at the top of anyone's list to review, but when you do need one it's…read morenice to have some info on the ones you're considering, so here goes. My mother in law recently passed away and it was the first family member that we have ever had to work on funeral arrangements and to be honest, we were lost. Seeing as she was from Maurice though, we went with Delhomme's and it was definitely the correct choice. They did not pressure us in any way for anything and where nothing but supportive and informative and walked us through everything. They will take as much time as needed and will do everything from the viewing, burial, obituary ads in various papers, printed literature, floral arrangements, burial plots, head stones and anything else you can think of. It's a turn key operation that really can eliminate the stress and worries about how to get everything done during the worst time of most people's lives. I'd highly recommend them to anyone and we truly appreciated all of their professionalism, courtesy and warm hospitality. Regards

I really like these old cemeteries, the Old Masonic Cemetery in Abbeville is a historic resting…read moreplace featuring a host of 19th-century graves. The old wrought iron entrance definitely sets a somewhat eerie vibe no matter the time of day - I originally wanted to visit this hallow ground after dark which I believe would have been a totally different experience but it just didn't work out so an early morning walk between the tombs proved to be adequate, this site just off railroad avenue sets in the shadow of the old Planter Rice Mill and almost seems like a forgotten and neglected place. The old brick markers and marble headstones shows the age which is documented that the last residents arrived in 1905 although some have said some arrived as late as the 1950's. I was interested to see if any of my distant relatives may have been laid to rest here but that seems not to be the case unless they had taken another name through marriage or other means. It's a solemn place deserving the utmost respect and although there were some restoration of the property beginning in 1997 the site seems to be mostly undisturbed - The lone tattered chair in the middle of this cemetery with stone and glass fragments placed on the seat seemed odd and mysterious but not out of place as if it could be a place to wait or a place of peace and reverence...

Losing a family member is never easy but they made us feel so at ease putting our loved ones in their hands. They helped us from start to finish! There's a nice area for the viewing/ memorial and then the crematory is just steps away. You don't have to drive anywhere else. Everything is done right there. They checked up on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. My family is Buddhist and we did a few days of ceremony and they were so accommodating. Also, if your family is Vietnamese and need interpretation, nicks wife who also works there is Vietnamese and she was so helpful. Again, do not go anywhere else! We've had family who had their funeral service held at other places in Lafayette or Maurice but they paid much more and had to travel from viewing location to crematory. You can get everything done here! They are so genuine and professional. I believe theres another funeral home/crematory nearby, make sure you go to CYPRESS FUNERAL HOME! They're located in Maurice! So conveniently next to Abbeville and Lafayette!
