I bring them to Little Bridge to experience "best practice" in a high-quality home environment. Two of my graduate students and I had a delightful visit to Little Bridge this morning. When we arrived, the children were beginning their dramatic play, and play with manipulative materials. The children were "going to the beach," working with small vehicles, and working with manipulative materials. All twelve children were actively engaged in meaningful activity: planning, negotiating, solving conflicts with the help and support of the two teachers, Stefania and Jessica. After "clean-up," the children joyfully danced and did movement exercises to music, and then washed their hands and had a convivial lunch. Throughout our visit, the children were happy, busy, and confident. It was very apparent that they felt safe and secure. Stefania and Jessica are both experienced teachers with a profound understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate curriculum, and a deep respect for young children. They have provided an environment where children can create, express themselves, learn to work with others, and thrive in all domains--cognitive, social, emotional, and physical. Bay Ridge families are fortunate to have this high-quality program available to them.

While larger facilities might have a few perks, the smaller, more intimate caregiving space seems much better for our daughter and the other kids at Dale's. They have the skills and intimate group size to care for the kids and teach them things that we do not have the bandwidth or know-how to teach at home. After a couple of short months, our daughter was speaking to us in rudimentary sign language that she wanted more food, was all done, wanted milk, etc. This communication meant that she wasn't getting frustrated that we were unable to read her cues, and we could be better caregivers and parents. She loves it there! She gets so excited to go to school, and the communication from everyone at Dale's is fantastic. They teach her colors and shapes and go on field trips to the children's museum and park. I cannot recommend them enough. If you want your child to be in a caring, safe, and fun environment, go to Dale's!
