Our…read morePastor, Jim Driskell is very knowledgeable in relating the Bible to us in a way that is understandable and relative. He schedules a monthly prayer breakfast and a Men's Network meeting. From children's Bible study to adult study, education in the Bible is emphasized. We are an active congregation. We have had events such as VBS, a Block Party, Halloween Trunk or Treat, Service in the Park with picnic, monthly craft classes, and a Sharing and Caring/Outreach committee. Recently we hosted a sauerkraut take out dinner to great success. We will be celebrating our 98th anniversary with a Thanksgiving type dinner this year and are entering a float in the New Castle Light Up Parade. If you are looking for a church that is welcoming, Christ Lutheran is definitely worth a visit and maybe stay awhile.

I'm not going to rave nor be evil about the Temple. Most of my family in my generation had their b'nai mitzvot and confirmations here. There's a lot of history that makes this synagogue very dear to my heart. I subconsciously judge all other temples against this one (which is unfair -- but I don't care.) The rabbis have come and gone from this location most likely because of the quality of life and the shrinking Jewish community. Back in the 1980s, Rabbi Meyer was the man. There were other rabbis in other temples -- but Reb Meyer was by far THE rabbi. After he died, Rabbi Steinheart stuck around, followed by Rabbi Baron and now Rabbi Schonberger is the man in charge. Each man has/had his own style of teaching and mentoring the community. Not that there's anything anyone could do to change my mind that Reb Meyer was *THE GREATEST RABBI, EVER* but each man has done his best, I believe, to serve his community as best as he knew and knows how.
