Really charming store that is much larger inside than it would appear from the street. They had a…read moregreat sale room in the back (Yay early Christmas shopping). They have a great selection of home decorator items (think wedding presents) and jewelry and loved the showcase of local art. The staff was great and helpful without being pushy. The store is full of merchandise but really well laid out so there's tons to look at. Be aware if you're on a Saturday jaunt like I was, that they close at 2pm

My friend and I made plans to have lunch at Peppers and shop downtown Thibodaux. After eating, we…read moreshopped at Neat and then went across the street to Chic Chateau with my bag from Neat in hand. As we entered Chic Chateau, I saw a young woman smiling behind the counter as she talked with an older woman shopper. There was no one else visible in the store. Just as we opened the door, the woman looked at us, dropped her smile, then stared with a blank expression for a second or two. Her reaction to me caught me off guard as I waited for "welcome" or "hello, let me know if you need any help". Acknowledgement of our presence was non-existent. (I noticed her smile because she and possibly the customer were not wearing a mask. (This is no issue for me because I dislike masks as well.) She turned back to the woman she was speaking with but their conversation became hushed. I immediately mentioned the awkwardness of the moment to my friend. When we rounded the shelf and made visible contact with them again, both had put on their masks. I noticed the older lady seemed uncomfortable by her body language. I sat down on an interesting chair near the counter and as the older lady left, she turned away from me as she walked briskly kind of looking at me out of the corner of her eye. She appeared to be avoiding eye contact and seemed like I said, "uncomfortable". At some point, I attempted to get noticed by commenting on a product on the shelf. I mentioned that I was not familiar with a particular brand of which she had several different items of on that shelf. Crickets! That was her chance to sell me but I was ignored. The only time anything was said to me was when I commented on a unique chair near the counter while sitting on it. The young woman behind the counter said something like "yes, the kids love it." That was it. No offer of help. No asking if I had a question about something in the store. I found this odd since I had commented earlier about an item, browsed the store, and paused to examine a few things. It's as if she did not expect me to buy anything so what was the point of trying. Moments later, a man in a blue button down shirt entered from the back of the store. He didn't say anything to the young woman but they made eye contact as he began observing us. Remember we are the only customers in the store. It's completely quiet and Ashley is ignoring us now doing busy work. If I'm not mistaken, a second man in a blue button down shirt entered from the back. They didn't say anything to us. They just followed us with their eyes but attempting not to be. It was a strange moment. I was ready to go at this point and when I yelled to my friend that I was ready to leave, she was already at the door. I messaged Chic Chateau Wednesday 12/23 morning on Facebook asking to speak with the owner about the incident that had happened the previous day. I received a response informing me that I was speaking with the owner and that they were in the store the previous day when the incident occurred. The person did not provide me with their name. Almost immediately after my initial message to Chic Chateau, I thought to check the about section on their Facebook page for the owner(s). I saw Debbie Terracina Webre and Ashley Webre listed as the owners. My following two replies to Ashley requested a phone conversation with her or her mother stating that text was not the appropriate method of communicating for this sensitive issue. I'm paraphrasing myself here. Ashley has read both messages but has not responded. When I went back to the Chic Chateau Facebook page's about section, the names of the owners were removed that had been there earlier Wednesday morning. It was my desire to handle this privately and hoped to get Chic Chateau's attention to give them the opportunity to hear my concerns. A message saying they would get back with me after the holidays would have sufficed. There is evidently something going on here where some customers are greeted with smiles and others with frowns. Why?

I've driven by this place so many times and on one afternoon, not so long ago, I finally had a…read morechance to look. The name says it all.... things for outside and in......a huge gift store filled with literally gifts for man, woman, child or beast.... As you walk in, there are small gift areas. There is a Louisiana themed section filled with platters, glasses and whatnots, nice for hostess gifts or special occasion. The LSU and Saints section had glasses and towels, aprons, shirts and many unique items that are not widely offered. The garden area had statues and tools and torches and garden art, as well as planters and Victorian gazing balls. Commonly recognized areas like Tyler candles and Vera bags and totes. I noticed a liquor area of local liquors and wines which was an interesting find as well as specialty sauces and spices for all your grilling and entertaining needs. In the back you will find grills, barbecues and the infamous green egg not far from patio furnishings and patio umbrellas.....There is also a baby section with every kind of baby gift for that new cutie patootie arrival. A small pet or animal lover section that had themed items from dog bowls to weenie dog shaped pens. The best section was in the extreme back in the clearance area where I spotted Halloween items at 75% off and colorful platters marked down to $12.00. There was literally hundreds of wonderful gifts at bargain basement prices. It's located on Corporate drive which runs behind the ever crowded MLK Blvd that's teaming with your typical chains, so it was an absolute delight to find this gem. The prices points were across the board and the quality of the items was excellent. Whatever your budget...you are sure to find something. They offer gift wrapping too, which can be an added bonus to any that are not able to provide that extra zing when giving a gift. The parking lot is large with ample parking and the staff approached me just twice to offer assistance, which I loved, not over powering...but just close enough if i needed them...... I was wowed.....so I'll be back!...hey! anybody having a gathering to invite me to? You know I'll be bringing a little something (and I know where I'll be shopping for it ;)...)

Just bought my wife's Mother's Day GIFT here. A roughly $300.00 bracelet and a card. When I asked…read moreto have it gift wrapped I was told they don't wrap sale items. I offered to pay for the gift wrapping, and they still would not wrap it. It should be said when ordering online there is an option to have the items wrapped. It should also be noted the entire store is having a 20% off sale at the moment. Does that mean they won't wrap anything you buy? I have spent hundreds of dollars at this store in the past. I bought my big green egg here that was over $1500 and also bought hundreds of dollars in accessories for my egg as well. This may seem trivial, but nobody cares about customer service anymore. They certainly don't at Outside & In! They have lost a customer today.
