It was my hope that these friendly firemen would scare the living tar out of my son who had recently discovered a new fascination with lighting books of matches on fire while in his room. I watched these men's eyes widen in amusement as I shared this story with the firemen, presumably mortified for my 8 year olds public berratement. After letting me vent for a few minutes, these men took my son inside the station to look around and to discuss the dangers of playing with matches in such a way. They let my son ask questions about the truck and about what the firemen did for their jobs and got to put on a fire helmet. This was such a wonderful act of kindness by these men! I believe they told my son that if he stayed away from the matches and got good grades that they would take him for a ride in the truck at some point. How cool is that?! Big Kudos to the St John's Fire Department for being so civilian conscious and truly generous of heart!!

It was my first time to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS). It was…read morerequired for me for licensing, so I made the trip. The team of government service employees, first, were very courteous is assisting me through the process from start to finish. It wasn't busy during my visit, though I'm sure at other times it can be. The office waiting area is pretty small. I'm not sure if they get standing room only in there, but I could see it happening. I will add that in attempts to curtail office overload, they have pretty speedy and smooth processes that get applicants through pretty quick. It was impressive. Another way to avoid a long wait is to sign up for an appointment online. It's very easy to do. Be on time and you'll certainly get in when it's your time apply. It's important that if you're going to apply for any of the many licenses that FDACS provides, make sure you read and fully follow the requirements. If you don't, you'll certainly not get what you're seeking on your first visit. And since they take in many customers daily, they're not going to give time for sob stories. I was working through the application process for around 20-25 minutes, moving from the computer then to the photo processing area. Service was great in my case. I can say anyone who follows the guidelines on the FDACS website will have no problem getting their needs met here. We'll see how the next visit goes in 7 years! But I may only have to do that online. I'll read up on it!! LOL

It's always practically empty, so wait times are basically non-existent. They offer all the PO services and are even open on Saturday mornings (no PO Boxes here though). The employees are really friendly and helpful. Maybe it's because they stay bored and they are genuinely happy to see you so they'll have something to do. LOL Even during the rush of Christmas they wait times are practically non-existant.
