Diocese of Phoenix please open your eyes and see what is going on at this school with the ineffective teachers and principal. wake up and listen to the families that have come to you for help as their voices are being dismissed at the school level. Parents wake up! There is a reason why the new principal was never made principal at OLMC and passed over for many years. Also one should be wary of the math coach who never paid her dues and obtained her math education online and not in the classroom like real teachers! The 6th grade teachers are extremely ineffective. Students are not learning a thing. Parents have tried to bring this to the Principals attention but they ignore the facts. There is a reason why this new principal was never made principal at OLMC despite having been there for a decade. her own school did not want her as principal and now the staff, parents, and students of Bosco will find out soon enough why she was passed over all those years. current and potential families need to run, not walk, to another school! those staff and families that stay are in for a rude awakening next school year! wake up Father Bob! you have charted this school on a course for disaster! 12 out 16 teachers were let go at the end of last year. 12 great teachers who have been there for many years and are part of the reason families come back each year. The teachers that remain are the ones that were brought in by the new principal or are "loyal" to her. Teachers were told these changes were due to budget issues however none of this was mentioned to parents last year nor mentioned in any end of the year meetings. Someone needs to audit the books and see what is really going on. As mentioned by other parents this was a sneaky move after having all the re-enrollment procedures completed before dropping this bombshell at the end of last school year. Regardless we are still pulling our children out and taking them a school that is led by someone with morals. Food for thought to any prospective parents..... the new principal had been at OLMC for many years and passed over all those years when a Principal job was available there. That tells you something when an employee can't move up in a school they have been at for decades and has to change schools in order to do so. Well I guess it's time for us to change schools as well. I hope the Diocese wakes up and undoes the damage before it gets even worse. "There are plenty of other schools out there that your child can attend". Shame on you Father Bob for not following the teachings of the church and our faith. Same answer went to those staff members that wanted to talk to him about these issues, he simply told them they can find jobs elsewhere. For shame Father Bob! And the Diocese? Their answer is that they can't do anything about it and they need to speak to the Principal. And what happens when parents speak to the Principal? Their children get expelled! Guess what happens to staff members that speak up? They get fired! Potential parents need to avoid this school at all costs. Your money will be better spent elsewhere. Thank you Yelp for allowing us to post honest reviews about this school as the greatschools website will not allow any more postings on their website due to all the negative reviews and the schools complaining about it. All reviews posted about SJB are pending as they have to now be reviewed by staff before being displayed. Take a look on their website and you will see the last posting was back in October even though many parents and families have posted since then giving honest reviews but yet they won't be displayed. Talk about a cover up! As for the school, where do I start? First they send over a Principal that was passed over for the job at her previous school for many years. The dance of the lemons gave us a person with a Napoleon complex and is a bully. Speaking of bullies, the Priest is the one to blame for this mess and the biggest bully of them all. He would not listen to what staff, teachers, families, and students had to say and brought over the most incompetent administrator ever. When confronted about this decision his answer was simply to leave the school and go elsewhere. Veteran teachers whom were loved and adored by families and students were let go with no valid reasons and replaced with less qualified and inexperienced teachers. The Priest shows no compassion and does not follow the teachings of the church. The Principal and the Priest have literally turned families away from the church and Catholic faith. When families try to speak up about the injustices they are punished by having their child kicked out of the school. The Superintendent when questioned about the problems at SJB simply tell parents they can't do anything about it. Scary to think that one can't turn to the higher ups for answers. There are certain teachers on campus whose background and credentials are in question. I ask that any parent reading this who are thinking of sending their child to SJB to call and verify the degrees of the teachers especially in the math department. Parents also need to verify where the teachers obtained their degrees and if they have ever actually taught in a real school with real students. Online degrees and online schools do not count as valid experience. Highly qualified teachers they are not! At the end of last year more than half of the teachers were let go. There was a clear division of those teachers/parents that were in the good graces of the new principal or against. Not only excellent teachers that were let go but also office staff, nurses, custodial staff, and instructional assistants. Great people with many years of service with no incidents let go and replaced by cronies of the new principal. Very sad. Right now there is a huge mess with the 6th grade teachers. Families are leaving because of this mess. Again those who speak up are simply asked to leave the school. Those that remain are fearful that their child will be punished if they speak up. This is now way for a catholic school to be ran. Please go to the greatschool website and read the negative reviews about the school. It is also obvious to tell which reviews were written at the request of the principal. please note the "thumbs up" button that indicates if a review was helpful. This school used to be great. I know families that have been there for over ten years and have sent all of their children there. It is sad to see that it has become. The new families of younger children don't know any better. You need to talk to the older families that have been around for years and years. bully principal. fake teachers. math coach who manipulates test scores to make herself look good (rumor has it she did this before in previous positions). teachers who don't teach but just assign busy work. teachers who do not respond to parents questions. teachers who lose homework and other assignments. middle school teachers are worthless. the good ones were fired last year and replaced with teachers who do not teach. 8th grade students are learning absolutely nothing this year. great teachers who were fired and replaced with less experiences and less qualified. a worthless priest who has no connection to the school or parents. he is a bigger bully than the principal. how he can sleep at night knowing that his attitude and decisions have hurt families. he is extremely rude. his response to parents who spoke up about the atrocities at SJB: " go and find another school!". this school has took a turn for the worse. there will be another exodus of good families and students after xmas break. the diocese continues to turn a blind eye and ignore parents who have reported issues. their excuse is they can't do anything about it. potential families you have been warned! do our research! question the validity of teacher credentials and prior teaching experience! check and see if the teacher in your grade level has actually taught in a real school and not just online. run away! run as fast as you can unless you enjoy adults who are worthless bullies with self interest as a priority and not the children or families that are the backbone of the school. the school has become a joke with weak, inexperienced, lazy and underqualified teachers (especially in the 6th grade) and an Incompetent principal are driving away good families that have been part of the school for many years. If a family speaks up to point out the inefficiencies of the school they are either ignored or silenced by having the child expelled. The Diocese is apparently aware but has turned a blind eye telling families they can't intervene. It is sad that the Catholic church is allowing this to happen and not being true to our faith. Potential families need to consider other schools in the area that would better educate children not only in academics but also morally and socially. Both my kids attend this school and they love it! They love their teachers, their loving principal, and friends they've made over the years. As a parent, I love the safety of the campus and their curriculum of educating the whole child with God as a center piece. read more
