The curriculum is terrible and there's favoritism. They don't have that many highly qualified teachers, and almost none are SPED trained.

Received a call on a Friday from the admissions manager that they would be out on Monday when actually they were out for the week on a mission trip. I followed up and their backup had no clue about our family or what was going on. The vice principal told them to tell us we would hear from them shortly. Then we received a letter from the principal late on the Friday afternoon before Spring Break that after "prayer" they could not (would not/did not want to) meet our sons need. The letter was very condescending and came off as if the principal and staff where the only ones with a prayer life. When I followed up on what was the factual basis of their decision and why we were never afforded our interview. The principal was not forthcoming with details. My husband and I take the Blessing of being on this parenting journey as a way to honor Gods greatest gift (children). So, when I asked for feedback it was a sincere ask to see if we could better meet our sons needs. The principal NEVER addressed why we were not granted our interview or provided feedback. We did everything we were asked and paid the fee only to be refused a complete application/interview process. There are other schools with better ethical practices, honest, and truly representative of the Christian values that Jesus asks of us. Not their skewed and narrow minded view of Christianity!!

If you have a daughter I highly suggest not sending them to this school. I have graduated from…read moreValley Christian High School, and my experience there was horrible. Teachers/Staff care more about dress coding and sexualizing girls than they do about our education. I had multiple teachers (including men) tell me I need to cover up and "not let my brothers in christ sin." Mind you I was dressing to their dress code standard, but naturally have a bigger chest. The same shirt a girl with an A cup would not get told anything to. I could go on and on about all the stories that staff and teachers have done to me to make me feel extremely uncomfortable to the point I didn't want to go to class anymore. After experiencing this for 4 years it has brought nothing but shame and trauma that I still think about years after graduating. Not only did staff make me feel extremely uncomfortable, the male students were completely disrespectful towards women. The way they would talk about women and sexualize them with no shame was disgusting. I see myself as Conservative and not much of a feminist, but this school brought me so much hurt to the point where I don't plan on sending my future kids to a Christian school. I still identify as a Christian now, but this school turned me away from God for about a year after I graduated.

My children are not only receiving a quality education, but they are active and involved in a strong Christian environment. The school has some fantastic teachers and our administrator's first priority has been the needs of the children. Both of my children have used the onsite daycare for several years, as well as the Summer Kids camp. My boys have loved the field trips, the activities and the swimming in the summers. Gethsemane also offers extra-curricular programs such as Band, Choir, Drama and Sports. We love the variety of activities that they are able to participate in without ever having to leave campus.

Gethsemane puts the "it takes a village to raise a child" model into practice. From early on, children and their families get to know all of the staff at the school offering a true community feeling. Small class sizes give teachers and other faculty members the opportunity to understand and meet your child's individual needs. Learning at Gethsemane doesn't just happen in the classroom or in a text book. Our teachers use outside the book activities, acts of service, exercises and technology to engage growing young minds. Throughout their educational experience at GLS those young minds and souls are nourished with the word of the Lord. Children attend Chapel weekly and all grade levels participate in Christian Studies.

We have had two scares involving our child and there was absolutely no evidence other than second and third-hand stories, what we could piece together from our child's limited vocabulary, and scratches on their skin. I've also gone in to pick up our child, to find a completely new caregiver I had never seen before taking care of the kids. In 2024 there is no reason that parents should not be able to check in on their kids virtually whenever they want to. We get a few pictures of our kid a day through the app, and we are missing thousands of little moments in their development. Enough is enough. Give parents peace of mind and the sense that we are a part of our children's day, even if we can't be there in person.

When we toured, they let us check out the room, meet the teachers and ask tons of questions. They are accomodating to parental requests - such as if you would like to substitute meals, or provide specific snacks. For example, we prefer that our son doesn't consume too much sugar (he's got enough energy as is...!), so we requested that when juice is served that it is watered down 50/50, and they have been very accomodating. He has some food sensitivities and they have substituted snacks when necessary. We enjoy having the updates on the app - we get a few photos a day of what he's doing, along with notifications of any diaper changes, what he's eating and how much, and how long and when he naps! Once in a while we get videos as well and it's so lovely to get little updates through the day. Miss Serenity and Miss Katie have been so lovely, and he looks forward to seeing them and his classmates. The socialization has been great for him. We have always had great interactions with the staff. We recommended Calvary Preschool to a friend, and they enrolled their baby and have been loving it too!
