So this is more than just a church, it's a community center!
One Sunday a month (usually the the first I think) they host the Indonesian Food Bazaar where catering companies and families cook Indonesian food for people to buy and eat cafeteria style in the church. On the day I went they had a live musical duo on stage.
They also offer yoga classes, what appears to be daily free lunches for seniors (funded by the NY Department for the Aging - another thing I didn't know existed), monthly meetings on how to protect yourself and your neighbors from ICE, a wealth of resources on scams targeting Asian and elderly populations, resources on tenants rights, and continuing education on things like Trumps plan to stop immigrants from having access to public programs.
You can even sign up for a NYCID card here, and bring your compostable food scraps every Sunday between 10am-12pm.
This is a great place to connect to the neighborhood :) read more
