Coming here for their candlelight service always puts me in the holiday spirit. Growing up, my mom always brought me here, since it was (and still is) our neighborhood church right on the border of Lighthouse Point and Pompano Beach. We've always called it the pink church, as did everyone else. Seems like they've finally embraced the name, because it's now officially called "The Pink Church: First Presbyterian Church of Pompano Beach." Walking in, you're immediately struck with how big this place is inside. It's always beautifully decorated for the holidays, with trees lining the sides and poinsettias all along the front. Since I only ever go for the Christmas Eve candlelight service, I don't know how the other services are run. When you walk in, you are handed a program with all of the "lessons" as well as songs that will be sung during the service, and a candle that you'll light at the end. This year's service was the best one I've seen yet, with a great selection of music. Most of the songs the congregation can sing along to, but there are some songs for only the choir or soloists. Toward the end, an usher comes to the end of each pew and lights the first person's candle, until all of the candles are lit. The service always ends with Silent Night, and it's beautiful. I may not be religious, but I can't help but leave here feeling more peaceful. All of the ushers are very friendly, and as everyone makes their way to the exits, most of the congregation wishes each other a Merry Christmas, even to strangers like us :) This year even the pastor came up to us at the end, and she was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Although we are only ever here once a year, we never feel out of place, and it's just one of the many reasons we continue to visit. We'll be back next year! Merry Christmas!

The worship is beautiful. The teaching is always spot on! What is so great about the services is that Calvary teaches the Bible verse by verse. They don't skip parts or do any watered down themed stuff. It's the truth in love and there is plenty of resources and support if you need help with anything. All of the volunteers are so nice and will always greet you with a smile. It's a very large church, but don't let that scare you. Get involved! Get connected! Join and volunteer! Find a group. Join a Bible study and a class. Reach out to the connect center. When you do, that's when it feels a lot smaller and you will start recognizing faces and feeling that sense of community. Don't just come go. Get connected and involved! Why not give it try? If you are reading this review and curious about this church, just come! The church management graciously allows temporary visitors to the bordering condo complex (that has limited parking) to park in the large church lot so long as the visitors don't use the first couple of rows near the church. Thank you! The church puts up a huge nativity display on the alter during the holidays. It is a definite must see. I have relatives that winter in the nearby condo complex. When my uncle passed away, he was buried up north. However, that is quite a trip to visit the cemetery, and my aunt still comes down. Therefore, we bought a memorial brick near the Mary statue in the courtyard in remembrance. A few years later, we also bought one for my still living aunt. We wanted the two bricks near each other; since a space wasn't free near my uncle, the maintenance guy helpfully moved my uncle's brick so they could be together. Much appreciated!

I have been to mass here in the past as I like to church hop from time to time seeing if I like the priest better than other priests at other parishes. Today I was here for a funeral mass for my friend from high schools mother. A short but full catholic mass today was performed. It broke my heart to see my friend up there speaking about his mom. The priest was a great communicator and knew the deceased personally so it made it so much more personal. The alter was loaded with bouquets and sprigs for my friends mother. It was beautiful. Saint paul is a smaller more intimate church. If you havent bee there you should check it out. Its a great catholic church. I dont like to shove religion down anyones throat as I believe its a personal choice. I enjoyed attending mass there today and was glad to be supportive to my high school classmate. I will return again to attend a sunday or saturday night mass. I always like Saint Paul Catholic church. Thanks for having a wonderful celebration of life for jeannie fitzgerald today!
