If you are not familiar with the Evangelical Free Church, it is a normal, mainstream evangelical church. No weird doctrines or anything. :-) Trinity International University located in Deerfield is actually a Evangelical Free school. The church has a lot of good programs and support groups for the community, too. The congregation, I feel, is a pretty good mix - it's not all rich, white North Shore folks. :)

During the pandemic our children stopped taking faith formation classes via zoom. The classes are extremely expensive as well as not meeting in person. I tried enrolling my son in faith formation class with Jo Styler and was told my son was not allowed to enroll & only commited family's are welcome. The classes already began! The classes began in September it is only October. The classes are "self" taught at home!!! and only meet 1 time a month in person what a absolute joke. How can she turn her back on a child? Is that what Jesus would do? Is that what the Catholic Church is teaching or what Jo styler is teaching? I am not the only person she has told this to! What a absolute disgusting message to do this to a 7 year old child trying to lead a Christian life. Shame on you Jo Styler & Holy Cross.

The meals for the retreats are very good- great selection with a big salad bar, fruit, soup and then hot choices too. They have basic retreat rooms- very simple but I think they each have their own bathroom and the rooms were very clean. The meeting rooms are also good. Overall I highly recommend Techny Towers for a retreat!

I have…read morebeen a member of many churches in my life, and by far, NSUC is the most welcoming and friendly church community I have ever encountered. The church is filled with people who truly care about creating a supportive community. Of course, there is Lucas - the pastor. He is amazing. He is brilliant, and his sermons always make me look at things in a new way and seem to hit what I need to hear on that day. Yet he never speaks in a way that makes you feel less intelligent than him. Finally, the music is amazing! So many talented people providing music for the services!
