I think this is probably the 2nd best playground in central Dublin behind Herbert park. The ground is padded with the newly standard rubber playground material to keep the playground safe. There are multiple swing areas, again one for the younger kids and a separate set for older kids at the other side of the park. There are multiple sides and plenty of rope areas to climb up. This playground does get quite crowded and unfortunately at times, way too crowded. I think the reason may be the lack of other well maintained play areas around the city. Herbert park is great, but a little bit far from my location in central Dublin. Merrion Square has a playground and I generally will spend most of my time here, however it is definitely not as well maintained and could use a decent refurbishment. It may reduce some of the crowding here to have a few more well maintained play areas around central Dublin.

It covers the two neighbourhoods of Glasnevein and Drumcondra. The park is just over 7 hectares in size. The park has a fine selection of trees, a beautiful flower garden, and a popular playground. Empty park benches are usually hard to find here on a warm sunny lunch hour. so u can usually see me speed walking past other hopeful 'empty park bench' wanters. Pretending I am just out for a leisurely speed walk, and then when i reach the only empty park bench I casually stop with a 'oh look an empty bench' look on my face and plonk myself down!!! at about 2pm the fountain in the middle of the pond is turned on. This can be pretty annoying when the wind blows! All the lucky people who managed to get an empty bench turn into synchronized swimmers. With the wind blowing the spray in the direction of the bench sitters - heads turn in beautiful synchronisation to avoid the spray. This usually last for about an hour, then normality resumes.

Nestled behind the fruit and flower markets. A modern playground very well maintained with benches scattered around. I get a kick out of seeing the diverse nationalities with their kids and the range of languages. Dublin 7 can be fairly dodgy in areas in no small park to the junkies but this is a safe oasis. You ever see a Mammy turn into a tiger if her kid is in danger? Yeah so I always feel safe here and it has a lovely innocent, happy colourful vibe in an area that always seems grey.

We taxied up from city center to Phoenix Park and it wasn't too far. There are local bars and such not too far from the park if you need a snack or brew before hitting the park. We were told that this park sometimes hosts concerts and some major events, even that Obama had visited and spoke during one of his trips. The park is lush, spacious and with lots of nature to see. My favorite thing about this park is the free roaming deer that you can see. They are extremely friendly and gentle. It's so unique to get an experience like this to walk with deer and to have them be so comfortable that you can approach them and that there were so many. A beautiful place to spend an hour or two in nature and not far from Dublin City, worth checking out.

The park is one of the largest enclosed recreational spaces in any European capital city. 1700 acres, it's home to the Dublin Zoo, the Flower Gardens and more. Lots of walking paths. Lots of monuments including the Wellington. Lots of meadows and woodlands and landscaped spots. The park is peaceful even with the buses running along its main avenue. The gardens dated back to 1795 when they were founded by the Dublin Society (later the Royal Dublin Society) and are a massive collection of some 20,000 living plants. And like the cemetery, it's free! Glass houses and gardens and walkways and benches and just beautiful flowers and blossoming trees and so much green. Even in early September as we're moving from Summer to Fall. I love that this is free and I think Dublin could do more to let people know that! They seem to be able to tap into those parts of a child's brain that brings out the creative and possibly undoes some of the damage caused by too much spongebob. Brilliant place, I love it.

On the outside of the world famous cathedral, lays a very elegant park. One that might get over looked if you not careful. The St. Patrick's Park has a charm that is hard to match. A sense of peace mixed with a classic atmosphere. When you first come into the park, it's hard not to get distracted by the cathedral being on the right hand side of the entrance. there is a Liberty Bell, by Vivienne Roche occupies a prominent spot in the park. The history of this park is very interesting. It is believed that this is the site where St. Patrick baptized the first Irish Christians. So, it's the place where Christianity was believed to have started in Ireland.
