Since 2004 I have complained to this PO in writing and in person numerous times and nothing has…read morechanged. I have lodged complaints about not receiving packages at all or packages being marked "delivered" on the tracking system when it was not. I have had several occasions when mail carriers left notices saying they attempted a delivery, but I was home at the time and know no one ever knocked on my door. For example, just last Monday my mail carrier left a delivery attempt notice in my box, you know the one that you sign so they know its okay to leave the package on the next delivery attempt. I signed it. The next day, Tuesday, my wife was home when the mailman came by and she handed him the signed slip. But my package wasn't on his truck, meaning he took it off his truck after his shift the previous day and never even planned to make a second delivery attempt the next day. He took the slip and said he would bring the package the following day. The following day, Wednesday, was yesterday and no delivery or delivery attempt notice left in my box. Now today is Thursday and I have to be late to work again because I need this package asap and have no choice but to go the post office first thing this morning to look for it. This is type of thing that happens all the time with these folks and it is insanely frustrating. Why can't they just do their freaking job and deliver the packages without playing games with the system or trying to NOT deliver them. I think they are just trifling and lazy and don't want to get out of their truck and want everyone to go pick up their packages instead of them delivering them. Its clearly an office culture supported by management because the same thing happens no matter who my mail person is. I understand mail carriers have discretion to not leave a package if it is unsafe to do so or if packages get stolen often in that area but these factors do not apply to my neighborhood. They need to stop being lazy and do their job.

It often gets overlooked between the hustle and bustle of the congested, busy Oxon Hill Road traffic and slue of neighboring businesses. As an avid bookworm and lover of books, I've seen this library many times while on my commute riding home but today I was off and decided to stop by and venture in. Although not much to look at on the outside, I must say I was impressed with the interior of the library and its collection. Although the collection of books are small compared to other libraries around, they were still relevant and current. What makes this library special is that they have a huge collection of African-American history and literature..... actually, as I learned from the head librarian, it is one of the largest collections of African-American history books and literature in the Washington DC area. I spent some significant time and this section of the library and really enjoyed it. Lots of knowledge and artifacts for the avid readers and knowledge seekers. I also couldn't help but notice a community puzzle that was laid out on a table that was really cool! I even added a couple of the missing pieces myself and found it to be very cathartic--relaxing. In all, neighborhood libraries can be a bit of lost nostalgia, but I find these resources to be very important in today's digital world. It's great to step into a space and actually feel, read, engulf yourself into reading materials as oppose to glaring screens and tablets. I highly recommend stopping by this library and giving it your patronage. It is open to all, whether you are a DC or Maryland resident. The staff is truly knowledgeable and seemed very happy to help with my questions/requests. The facilities is fully Wi-Fi enabled and can service a great stop for quick teleworking. It's the historical reference for me about this library and the vast collection of African-American literature that makes this place a stand out. They will even go back to the old collections and pull something out for you. They even have a wide variety of events, programs, including educational programs and lectures. And if they don't have what you are looking for, they can order it from another library and have it brought in for you. Not to mention, your library card gives you full access to digital materials and a library service called Libby, which contains just about anything you would find both old and current in any bookstore for free. We have been to a few libraries for story time and Oxon Hill is hands down the best. They do a great job picking books that engage the kiddos. Plus the music/movement breaks are always on point. The staff is always friendly, engaging, and welcoming. I adore this library and highly recommend their story time for the little humans. This station seems pretty generic, but it appears that it is maintained less than other stations in the city. What I mean is that you can see rusting benches and this canopy contraptions that surround some of the benches. The Station Manager who worked today was very friendly though, and he even asked !e if I needed some help as I was reviewing the transit price chart. That rarely happens in a Metro station. Usually the Managers in the booths barely even acknowledge you.

Passengers are bussed to…read moreother metro stops via a coach bus that is either express or makes stops prior to arriving at Southern Avenue Metro Station. There is a lot of congestion for people leaving and entering since there are only a few entry points. People don't have their fare card out or find out when trying to enter/exit they have no funds on their card and have to get out of the way. The people who are supposed to clean the train do so haphazardly and do enough to look busy. Sadly, people are disrespectful and smoke marijuana on the train with no regard to kids, elders or nonsmokers. Keep your head on a swivel. When school is in session, the teenagers that ride the train are rude, can be aggressive and love to put their bags or feet in the seat when there are seniors or working folks who'd like to take a load off of their tired feet. Best advice is to keep the peace unless you have to speak up. Fare evading is real. Those who do it, do so blatantly. Security on the train is minimal and you shouldn't expect them to do much. Out of necessity, people ride the train and if other options were viable, they'd probably reconsider. However, it's a benefit to have a metro system as an alternative to driving and having to search for parking that has inflated prices.

I want to say thank you to all that helped put out the fire in the Oxon Hill Village Apartments on January 1, 2021@ around 830 pm. It is a good thing that you are taught at an early age to devise an escape plan in case of fire, things like feeling the door before opening, or what exit to use. That night I got out alive using those helpful life-saving steps. Within minutes I had to remember to stay calm, move swiftly but carefully. I was falling asleep in my recliner when a neighbor shouted fire get out! the command sounds simple, but it is a hard one when black smoke comes into your main escape route and your two other exits are covered in smoke and what I can only assume are pieces of my neighbor's upstairs apartment. I was falling asleep when I heard get out!, when I ran away from the black smoke at the front door I ran to my bedroom and I thank God to this day I had been procrastinating about taking my sleep medication. When I ran to my bedroom when I think back on it my bedroom looked foggy because of smoke, had I taken my medicine I never would have woken up! I am thankful every morning that I wake up! thankful? that none of my family were there. I can't even tell you how long it took to get out, but when I finally got out I got in my car, and when I was pulling out of my parking space the fire department came rolling in. It is my belief that because of The Oxon Hill Fire Departments' swift action and the Oxon Hill Village Maintenance team, the row of apartments did not blow up, it is my Firm belief life would have been lost rather than the displacement of Sixty-Five people. I took hours to put the fire out. I left our complex at about 12 am ? and those brave Men and Women were still working. When I called to get information to give to my insurance company the fire department. ent was much more helpful than the complex. My younger brother is a fireman, so I know the hours are long and have always known the job is dangerous, but how you are treated after the fire also matters. So I really want them to know that the departments of fire and ems are so appreciated. If you're not from east of the river, it's just off of the highway on your way to the National Harbor. The man who designed it is also the genius who designed the National African-American History and Culture Museum. He created this library to be "a brutalist treehouse." It stands on a hill overlooking the city and does give off the treehouse vibe. Although it's one building, it looks as if it has several towers with the majority of the space outside of the bottom floor. Once you enter, walk up the stairs to the second floor for the kids section and the top floor with the rest of the books, computers, private rooms, and community space. There are many windows letting in natural light. This library's programming is on point. They have poetry days, hip hop dance classes, and photography workshops. If you're into design and photography, this is a true hidden gem in the city.
