Ever since he's joined he's learned a lot and the style of learning suits him. Teachers are very involved in creating a safe space for our child to grow and learn. This is one of the few/only schools that allow you to monitor your children which is a huge plus. The school is closed off and feels very secure. In comparison to all of the other schools it is also the most affordable. They are very open to communicating with us and accommodating whatever needs. The location in the Bethany village is really nice as well as there are so many other children's activities around. My son also loves playing in their outdoor area which is nice and spacious.

At the start of the school year, he didn't know any English, was using a pacifier and wasn't potty trained. Now he's telling jokes in English, is very sociable, ditched the pacifier and is wearing underwear. He's grown so much at the school with the help of Ms. Kelli. Why I like this school in comparison to the other schools nearby: - I can watch the security camera of my child's classroom all day which is comforting especially since he's young - He is given nutritional snacks and lunch from the school - He is given a lot of 1 on 1 attention - It is more affordable in comparison to the schools nearby - It is safe, there are codes for the doors and outside is closed off. - language and motor skills development exceeds his age group because of the Montessori learning style - Great communication between Ms. Tammi and the parents

This is because of the very friendly and caring staff/teachers. They make even the parents comfortable right from day one with constant updates about the kid's activities with pictures, notes about the meal times and by promptly responding to any questions/concerns at any point of the day. The school follows just the right curriculum what we need for all ages. At these covid times, they follow the best practices, hygiene and precautions that we expected. With bright ambience in the classrooms, huge play areas and extremely caring teachers, this school just proves to be a second home for our son and his second happy place!! Very thankful to Nancy, Vinisha, Cynthia and all the teachers for making this possible. I highly recommend this school for all early learners!

In the year that they have been at Safari Kid, their progression has demonstrated positive growth in so many ways. Safari Kid has provided an excellent environment for our boys to discover the joy in learning. Their response to the play-based and socio-emotional aspects of the curriculum has been so positive. The administration and staff go above and beyond in providing a sense of safety and community, helping our kids to grow into independent, sociable, curious, playful, and confident learners. We truly feel that the teachers, administration, and staff care about the well-being and growth of our kids. As parents we are continually impressed by the new skills acquired by our children from lessons provided by Safari Kid. We are so glad we found Safari Kid!

The facility is clean and secure and the staff is polite and professional. The school uses newer technologies to provide parents with excellent communication and lots of pictures. The principal also regularly sends messages or emails about events, staffing changes, and other happenings at the school. The teachers did a great job implementing the curriculum and our daughter loved working with them. We were also given informative updates about her developmental progress through periodic conferences. Although the COVID pandemic disrupted all daycares in 2020, the school handled it as well as they could. Overall, Touchstone took great care of my daughter and set her up to succeed in elementary school, and I highly recommend it.

My sister, their mother, and I noticed that this location feels like all business and no regard to making connections with families like how the Beaverton location has. Whenever we get a chance to talk to the former Beaverton teachers, they always make us feel welcome as always. But not the Hillsboro team and sorry to say even the Hillsboro principal doesn't feel genuine. It feels like when parents talk to her, it goes in one ear and out another. I understand that you want business to thrive but you also have to make an effort to make people feel welcome. We really miss the Beaverton location and wish it will open again. The teachers feel like family, are always happy and have the time to address any concerns you have or small talk. You can tell that the Beaverton teachers truly care about your child and your family. The Hillsboro team does not make you feel that way. There are also some safety concerns. My niece told me that one of the teachers of the younger class forgot some children on the playground while going inside. My niece's class, the older kids, were still playing while the younger ones were going inside. The main door is on the older kid playground area. The teacher of the younger class went inside and left 2 students outside. Thank goodness there was another class outside because my niece's teacher noticed this and brought the children inside. I don't know if the other teacher was talked to about forgetting her students. Another safety concern is that recently they decided to open the emergency side door exit for the older classes to make going home time faster since there is always a long line. So that door is open and the teacher just lets the child out, but having to stay by the door because they're supposed to stay with the rest of the class. I understand that they want to make it convenient for families to make the pick up time faster, but the teacher isn't able to personally bring the student out to their families. What if the child gets hurt on the way? And what about the children in the classroom? If the teacher is in the doorway watching a child go to their family, who is watching the kids inside? I would truly give this school 0 stars but give it 2 stars since we still keep in touch with the Beaverton transferred teachers and they ALWAYS make us feel welcome.

All of the research I've done indicates that suspending young children is a very bad idea. The Goddard School we were at was unwilling to work with our child to figure out the root of the biting. Here's the info I wish I had when choosing a preschool…read more While I was dazzled at our tour with some lesson plans that incorporate learning about different cultures, the plans were overshadowed by antiquated teaching and classroom management methods--at best--and shocking lack of developmentally approapropriate strategies, at worst. As an educator, I can tell you with certainty that to call this preschool "montessori" is beyond misleading. The teachers are not montessori teachers. There is some opportunity for choice upon arrival, but that's about it. Not a dealbreaker for me, personally, but something to note. My 3, almost 4 year old, spent a lot of time doing worksheets on his own. We moved to a different preschool after a month and the differences were stark. Little Stars offered no intentional support for student social development. The kids didn't even introduce themselves by name in the first weeks, let alone receive guidane on how to initiate play with others. After 3 weeks at Little Stars, our son knew the name of only ONE student--and it's because that student got in trouble a lot (more on that in a minute). After his very first day at a new school, he was excited to talk about the FIVE students he played with, by name, and relay the ways the teachers taught the kids about community and friendship. At Little Stars, our son continued to come home without much to say. He knew we were excited about starting school. He didn't want to disappoint us. His teachers always commented that she wished the other kids were more like our kid...but whatever messages he was getting, were not positive ones... After a few weeks, he started to talk about the "bad kids"--despite the fact that we've distinguished bad kids from bad choices since the day he was born. I asked why he thought they were bad and he said it is because the teachers write their name on the board and then put lots of frowny faces next to them. (Is this 1975?!?!) I called Little Stars to ask for more context so I could navigate the nightly conversations. I certainly didn't feel better when they assured me they were only publicly shaming 3 of the preschoolers in the class. Apparently, this was a communication plan with families to manage behaviors...Any professional who works with this age group should understand that these methods are proven to be ineffective and even do more harm than good. His teacher was generally sour most days and there is a handful of other disappointments that will only make this longer. In summary, Little Stars is absolutely NOT a place we could keep our child since the goal was a warm environment to develop curiosity, community and love of learning. We've been delighted by two other preschools for my son and daughter where every day is full of learning, but also joy, community, curiosity, physicaly play, nurturing educators, social-emotional development, and nature. You've got to wonder how a place with a decade in business has so few reviews. Wish I had given more weight to that.
