Reading G.A.--- Correction to her comments. Every Weekend Mass DOES have the Mass intention mentioned, right at the starting introduction by the cantor, but you have to be on time to hear it. The names are also on a card on the altar for father to see, and in the bulletin for all to see it.
As for the afternoon visit made, the church is customarily not left open for the afternoon. It cannot be left unlocked and unattended, because of security to the church. Things have been stolen and damaged, and even camera security had to be installed, and an alarm unit. The church is open for many hours on the weekend for visits and for no less than 4 Masses, and the church have weekdays and a weeknight Mass and visiting time, or can be opened upon request during any working hours of the office staff. Yet when the church is closing up (after being open for six hours that day), it does need to close up, and its staff to go home. St. Edwards wasn't "rejecting" this family this day. We hope they now understand that.
