This is the best format for senior living. Each house holds just 10 residents in 10 bedrooms, split between 2 hallways on either side of a central common area with dining space, living area, and an enormous kitchen where staff prepares meals and residents may use space, also. Each bedroom is private with en suite bathroom equipped with a walk in shower. Facility provides twin bed, sitting chair, side table, and dresser. There is space to personalize as well. We plan to add 2 sitting chairs for guests and a larger dresser. There is a large closet, between 5-6' wide. Laundry is done on a schedule and not mixed so chance if items missing is very low. Nurse is available, aids are assigned on shifts and are very capable and friendly. The center publishes activity calendar including social outings and shopping trips. There is a hair salon and manicures and pedicures can be scheduled.

I could list all the reasons but there isn't enough space here. The nursing staff honestly does not care about the patients and wants to do the bare minimum or less. Due to the last minute need of finding a rehab for my mother, this was the only place available. My family is frantically trying to find a new rehab but the good places have a waiting list. I'm just trying to keep my mom alive long enough so we can get her transferred-that's how bad it is. It's a shame this place has such bad nursing care because everyone in rehab seems to be great. However if my mom's basic daily needs aren't being met, then rehab isn't going to be effective. I wish I could leave a negative amount of stars.

I've worked in Michigan and Ohio as an aide in quite a few different facilities. The staff is really friendly and always willing to help. When we were short staffed the DON came in to help. This is definitely not a building that you will hear not my resident not my problem as many other facilities are like that. I'm thankful to be part of the staff here.

There are some who care, but the majority know it is hard to get help and it shows in their attitude. Most of the nurses feel it is beneath them to help a resident get to the bathroom, and since there are not enough aides, you could wait 40 minutes for help. If you have someone there, it is important to be there with them for the majority of the day, or they will not be helped. The staff is overworked and resentful. My husband was there for 12 weeks and by the end he was begging me to get him out of there.

She was never in depends when she was home. She's drastically declined since she's been there. The workers never put her dentures in correctly and are overwhelmed with other patients. She always was so beautiful and now shes so unkempt, hair not washed, sweaty. Shes just not being taken care of the way she should. There are way too many patients per nurse. They say she's combative and that's part of the disease, they medicate for it. It seems to me she's lucid, knowing that she doesn't live there, then she gets so medicated that she sleeps through meals. Yes she's losing weight. Yes her dementia is advancing horribly. I think this place is a big part if her advancing.

If you are unfamiliar with hospital food you may want to reconsider your preconceived notions. These whipped potatoes are very similar to mashed potatoes in that may have originated as a potato and serve delightfully as a no frills substitute, trust me you will wish you had more or something else. The Pot roast is very consistently cooked and brown and serves a a fat free protein that complements the whipped potatoes. With a bit a brown gravy you will have a beautiful rainbow of earth tones for your taste buds. To continue with our brown theme and also saving the best for last, I suggest dipping a chocolate chip cookie into the what has now become soft serve ice cream, it will soften up the cookie and create something like an MRE ice cream sandwich. After 2 hours and 10 minutes and several attempts to get them to see him. We left and went to Mercy emergency room where he was seen immediately and taken care of. The man behind the window at Flower Emergency room was totally rude and did nothing to acknowledge us. We felt invisible and my husband, who was laying down on the chairs as best he could (he is 6'1") got no attention and was in a great deal of pain. There was no one else in the emergency waiting room at the time and when we told the man that we were leaving he did not say a word and just cut off the wristband.
