THIS REVIEW IS FOR THIS FACILITY AS A BOOKED VENUE First off…read more-- this is not about the golf course, but a review of this facility for hosting a wedding. Folks - if you are looking for a venue -- look no further. These folks do a great job for venue catering. They have a wonderful room in the back that overlooks the 18th hole - and holds about 80-100 people quite easily. They had the ceremony on a section of the property away from the main clubhouse (it was private and very pretty). I must say it was a bit difficult to hear since there is a lot of road noise due to lots more construction along Sunningdale, but still very nice. The clubhouse? Wonderful room we had the cocktail reception in! Huge fireplace with nice comfortable wing back chairs and comfy sofas with still lots of room to mingle. The staff came around with all kinds of appetizers (lamb chops, oyster, shrimp skewers, and mini beef wellington. They were all wonderful and went down wonderfully with champagne! The meal included a wonderful salad with citrus segments, and then a choice of chicken stuffed with veg and goat cheese or a filet mignon in a wonderful sauce. The dessert plate had a mini-trio of creme brulee, brownie and strawberry cheesecake on it. The staff checked in on us regularly and did fireworks for the bride and groom later in the night. What a great evening! So - if you want a memorable wedding day -- look no further than Sunningdale Golf and Country club!

I attended a Christmas party here and have been forgetting to write it up…read more Servers were friendly and attentive upon our arrival. Cocktails were strong and happily refreshed or substituted. They had a great setup with a buffet of apps and cheeses. The cheeses were a bit boring in my book but the hot dips and crackers and crab cakes were utterly fantastic. The green salads were fresh but unremarkable. Service did well for such a large gathering though. The mains we had to choose from ahead of time were chicken marsala, a vegetarian risotto or filet and sea bass. Well duh. The filet was fantastic, perfect medium rare with good char on the outside. The sea bass was melt in your mouth with a delicious beurre blanc. People who went marsala seemed sad upon viewing the combo but the vegetarian raved about hers. Dessert was a sundae bar. Just vanilla ice cream. Lots of fun toppings but more ice cream flavors would have made it epic. Coffee was served and was happy, especially after a few vodka and sodas with a splash of cran. For an event it was pretty great.

My family joined "The Club" in 1964. It was and still is the best golf course in Michigan…read more Beautifully designed and impeccably maintained. The greens staff and crew are hard working and know how to maintain a challenging course. The dining room has a nice balance of elegance and homeless. I never had a bad meal there. Prices are reasonable. The tennis courts and swimming pool I can't comment on because I never used them The number one positive about the Barton Hills CC is the intrinsic location. Barton Hills is actually hilly. It's not a flaky developer's name. My only regret is that I can't afford to join, but I had many of the best times of my life there. Join if you can afford it. It's a gem.

I've been playing Huron Shores Golf Course for many years, going all the way back to when it was…read morejust a 9-hole course. Seeing it grow into the beautiful 18-hole layout it is today has been great to watch. The course itself is short but surprisingly challenging, which makes it fun for golfers of every level. The mature trees lining many of the fairways and the well-placed water hazards keep you thinking on almost every shot. It's the kind of course where strategy matters just as much as power. The greens are consistently in excellent condition, some of the best-maintained in the area, and they roll true. It's clear that a lot of pride goes into keeping the course looking great. After the round, the restaurant is a must-stop. The food is excellent, and I'm not exaggerating when I say even the hot dogs are fantastic. They also have a great selection of cold beer, both on tap and bottled. The staff is friendly, fun, and attentive. It is a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The owner deserves a lot of credit. He's done a terrific job building the business and clearly cares about the course, the players, and the Port Sanilac community. If you're anywhere near Port Sanilac and looking for a round of golf, Huron Shores is absolutely worth the stop. It's one of those places that keeps you coming back.
