They have a selection of international sodas downstairs and perhaps upstairs as well at the bar. We enjoyed the all you can play arcade, and trying some exotic sodas from afar. The music harkened from the heyday of the arcade parlor and definitely felt like a journey to another time. And they had my favorite from yesteryear.... Joust!

We took the guided tour ($8 for seniors) and had a phenomenal tour guide. He was a recent graduate with a degree in history. His tour was very informative and he tried hard to dispel some of the myths surrounding Daniel Boone and some misconceptions based on the Festus Parker protrayal of Daniel Boon on TV. He was great. After the guided tour of the house, we did a self guided tour of the historic village. This was well worth the visit.

We took advantage of the warmer weather and hiked the Thornhill Trail today. Even though it was a…read morelittle slick on the downhill with all the leaves on the ground, the trail was well-maintained. This trail is a linear trail so you're either going to do an out and back or your can opt to walk around the rest of the park via sidewalks and road. It is labeled as a black diamond but I would call it a "Missouri black diamond." The hills can be steep for some but the trail is plenty wide enough to step to the side and catch your breath, if you need.

Unfortunately, the forecast is showing a 95% chance of rain for that day, which would significantly impact our ability to safely and comfortably host our gathering. We have already begun exploring alternative options, including moving the event to a family member's home, but this presents challenges given the size of our gathering. Instead of canceling outright, we reached out to request a date change to August 8, 2026, which we understand is available. We were informed that changes or refunds require a 30-day notice. However, it is difficult to predict severe weather conditions that far in advance. Our request is not to cancel without cause, but simply to move our reservation to another available date so we can continue to use and support your facility. As returning customers, we value hosting our event at Faust Park and were hoping there might be some flexibility under these unforeseen circumstances. One of the best parts is that general admission is free which makes it super accessible and easy to spend as much (or as little) time as you want without feeling pressured. The layout is spacious and easy to explore, although some sections feel stronger than others depending on your taste. It's also the kind of place where you can wander and really take your time. Great for both a quick visit or a longer afternoon. It's one of the best attractions in St Louis with a surprisingly deep collection. Definitely worth visiting especially if you're already in Forest Park.

Anyway, they do not just house butterflies here. They got BUGS. Icky bugs and icky roaches and my son LOVED it. Luckily the icky bugs are behind glass and that is not very interactive lol. The actual butterfly house limits how many people can go in which is nice because once you get in, you are surrounded by butterflies. They will REALLY fly across your face and land on you if they choose. The staff recommends to walk slowly and to be mindful of your movements for the safety of the butterflies. It was such a beautiful area! I'd love to come back again. I think my son liked it, but he liked the icky bugs more lol.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The location is within a park that also has a playground and carousel. Outside are oversized sculptures of a butterfly and a caterpillar (kids can crawl through it). Once inside, there were educational exhibits with insects. We did not have to wait long at all to enter the butterfly area. There were lots of butterflies compared to other butterfly houses that I have visited. You could walk slowly through, or sit down, and they flew around or sometimes landed on you. The inside is very warm with lots of tropical plants and gorgeous flowers. There is also a gift shop, but some of the items are pricey (we did get a magnet as a souvenir).

The cabin is open May-October on the 1st & 3rd Sundays from 1pm-4pm and maintained by the Old Trails Historical Society. 2015 marks the 180th anniversary of the cabin, which was built by William Douglas Bacon. Unfortunately, the structure contains little to no actual bacon (boo) but it has been restored as a pioneer cabin. The stone fireplace is original as are the logs, beams, and some fireplace bricks. The cabin houses period furnishings and a museum display of West St. Louis County historical memorabilia. The docent, Irene, was highly knowledgeable and extremely spry for 86. In addition to giving tours, she helped fund the preservation of the root cellar on the property, cans her own raspberry preserves, and quilts. I felt as though I had taken a step back in time to a simpler, but definitely not easier, way of living. There were a lot of things to take in during the walk through the cabin, including a kitchen, bedroom, working gun above the mantelpiece. In June 2015, the Forget Me Not Garden Club dedicated a Blue Star Memorial byway marker, honoring service men and women, that can be found near the front entrance. The dedication that members of this historical society have shown to restoring this structure and open it to public viewing is inspiring. A must see, underrated historical attraction for anyone with an interest in historic houses and Americana.

The tram had closed for the day that drives you around the farm which we had been informed - they still had the tram that takes you to the petting zoo area and restaurant. Be prepared to pay more money if you want to feed the animals - $3.00 for the goats and birds and $10 for a camel ride and photo. An hour was plenty of time for our 18 month old. Plan ahead if you want to see the entire Farm, arrive early and bring money.

The Neutral Zone is located inside Chesterfield Mall. If you are not familiar with the mall, it's important to know that it no longer functions as a typical mall. There are a few businesses still there, mostly providing entertainment (movie theater, pickle ball, The Neutral Zone, etc.), but besides the Cheesecake Factory, you will not have other places to grab food, etc. while there. We arrived to the Neutral Zone, gave our voucher info at the front desk, and headed into the arcade. There are several retro games there to play (Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Frogger, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, racing games, Dance Dance Revolution, and more) as well as two skee ball lanes (only one was working at the time). My husband and I enjoyed playing some games from our childhood and competing with each other to see who could remember how to play what. :) We enjoyed ourselves while there and played all the games we wanted to, but we didn't stay more than an hour to an hour and a half at most -- which was fine with us, but if you were paying full price ($19.95) it would have been disappointing. All in all, I found it to be a fun evening but not something we would probably return to very often. For the retro gamers out there, check them out -- or give them a go for something different to do with your significant other.
