On a quick trip to Sask and my old hunting grounds, I stopped at the log cabin cafe to have a meal. When Clarence Hood had the place we had many a meal there back in the 1990"s and it was always good. Now like almost every small town in Saskatchewan this restaurant which is under new ownership is Chinese food. And of the 6 Chinese restaurants I ate at on my four day trip, the St. Brieux Cafe had the best food of them all.
I was most impressed with the quality of the food, the size of the portions and I am still eating leftover takeaways.
I had the won ton soup, lots of fresh veggies and the won tons themselves were excellent. Then I had the breaded pork and it was super and a giant serving.
The only thing I missed was hot and sour soup and for some reason a lot of the small Chinese restaurants in Sask do not offer it. The menu at so many of these places all seem to morph into being all the same. I judge a lot of Chinese restaurants on the quality of the hot and sour soup.
But at any rate, the food I had was great, and I would return in a heartbeat.
The owners most pleasant and service was right on.
Thanks for a great meal.
