The day I came to walk about, there seemed to be quite a few people visiting plots, talking to their loved ones. I am so very impressed with everything. There are not many trees or much shade, so I do not suggest coming to walk here on a hot summer day.

I have to say my pics weren't as good this visit. Maybe the rain grey day was the issue. I was glad to see the confederate statues were spared as I think trying to erase our past send the wrong message. Learn from your mistake or you will repeat them. plus, the statues are a landmark to finding the cemeteries most popular area .. the weeping angel. The angel is beautiful and not out in the open. It's in a large mausoleum with huge columns in the front and blue stained glass in the back.

The funeral home there had no idea what to do and serenity funeral home walked them through everything. They sent his clothing with him also so the funeral home there would have everything they needed. They went above and beyond. If not for their honesty and dedication I couldn't have gotten my son back home for burial and would have had to cremate him. Other funeral homes were gonna charge me for a whole funeral which was twice the cost. I called several. I appreciate these folks so very much and highly recommend them. The guy even said he would pray for our family which you don't hear often these days. I have so much respect for them. Thanks to them, the worst time of my whole life was less stressful, which when you're already overwhelmed , it means so very much.

It is so hard to wrap your mind around all the little details that come with planning services like this. Jack helped us navigate those details without pushing services that we didn't need, which in our experience is very common in this industry. The chapel was nicely decorated and very clean. The staff were super helpful and respectful during our time of grief. We couldn't have asked for a better experience considering the circumstances

Don't be confused, there is a Lafayette Cemetery No. 1, but that is CLOSED, and is located in the Garden District (near Commander's Palace restaurant). You will need to be in a tour to enter, but I did it on the cheap. If you walk the perimeter, you can view the grounds from the iron gates built into the block walls. I stuck my phone in and took some nice photos. At the entrance, I peeked in and was able to see the Nicholas Cage pyramid crypt.
