What I most-love about this church? It has a Fuller Seminary-Princeton vibe - this won't mean much unless you've been a Christian for more than, say - ten years - I'm going on eleven. Came from the Catholic Church - initially (2006) switched over to the Calvary Chapel - the great Xavier Ries who began his Ministry with a three-person Altadena Bible Study. It was Pastor-X and the Calvary that really changed my life/outlook back in late 2005/early 2006. All churches are incredible, give great benefit providing our Heart wants to come full circle. Began to get interested in La Canada Presbyterian due to my general location - I'm only a few miles away - and their campus rings of an Ivy League-feel. Just glorious up there on Foothill and just across from the La Canada post office. I've studied everyone - love them all - the Charles Stanley's, the Billy Graham's, the aforementioned Xavier Ries and brother Raul - even Pastor Joel over at Lakewood. Each has and brings something a little different. Pastor Dr. Gary Dennis drew my attention due to his stirring, insightful eleven a.m.'s - these incredible Worship Services. Led by Andrew and their great Worship team/band. Dr. Gary's sermons are all at the La Canada Prez website, and are worth their weight in gold - this was and is one of the (retired) greats. Then they have Dr. Chuck Osborn, and an entire front office of the most amazing people and team - They held the services for Ryder Buck, a tragedy felt by all here in N. Glendale - this was one of the most-profound services I've ever witnessed - we bled together though I hadn't joined, didn't officially belong. I can't say enough good things about this church or the people in it - If this isn't enough they sponsor Al-Anon almost every day of the week - some of our biggest Al-Anon meetings are held at La Canada Prez. Do yourself a favor, stop in to an enervating Sunday eleven a.m., you'll be as astonished and as lifted as I was/am. .

I am an Armenian-American and most of my husband's family belongs to Christian Lutheran denomination. This was the first reason we wanted to have a Lutheran ceremony. Another reason is that the Lutheran church offers a specific beautiful ceremony for married couples who want to renew their marriage vows. And the third reason, important to me personally, which I think I need to mention is the fact that Lutheran church helped many orphaned Armenian children who were victims of the Armenian genocide. This past Friday was an important and one of the most wonderful days in our lives and Pastor Scott added to it greatly.

I think my favorite thing about Holy Redeemer is the diversity and sense of welcoming. You really get a sense of the melting pot of Los Angeles because so many cultures and races come here. You've got the Caucasian crowd, Asian and Pacific Islander, Hispanic, and African American all in one place. There is a good mix of elderly parishioners, young families, and those in between, and I've only had positive interactions with people here. The 10AM Mass is my go-to, it has a melodious choir, good ushers and other volunteers, and the regular baptisms are fun to see. The setup of the pews is reminiscent of many churches in Europe, with 3 different viewing angles facing the altar, but the decor is more modern, with light wooden pews and generous lighting. I'm a fan of the stained glass, and the overall aesthetic of the church.

Pastor Solomon consistently gives sermons that are as good as, or better than, any I have ever seen or heard.
