Not only was it rife with pretentious bullies who delighted in destroying fellow pupil's self-esteem, but the teachers would *join in*, yep, you read that right, the teachers would also delight in flinging personal insults and abuse, without naming names, this included a senior geography teacher, two female PE teachers and a home economics teacher. If your kids are introverted, or have some kind of 'issue' such as being slightly overweight, shy, wearing glasses, having a mild birth defect (Bell's Palsy) , or made the damn-awful mistake of being considered "less attractive' (in the shallow opinions of the stuck up little guttersnipes that populate this place) then go ahead and send them here, round out their education will full-on emotional abuse and ensure they need therapy for years to come! *Also, stealing is rife, because the popular kids have been dragged up like monkeys by their nannies. Don't bother bringing anything even semi-valuable or unusual to school as it *will* be stolen by entitled "popular" kids, because hey, they can get away with it. After all, 'poor people' were put on Earth to serve the elitist 'rich' dontcha know x)

Also the teaching and education is brilliant. it is a private school so you do have to pay but it is worth it. I would definately recommend this school for your childs education.

They cater well for special needs students and have an onsite speech & language unit. Nursery education is also onsite here and is very popular but they run a waiting list which you can place your childs name onto. Staff are all friendly and approachable and seem to genuinely care about the children. Students have the opportunity to take part in several after school clubs and school trips to outside sites also take place. The school grounds are well secured so the children are educated in a safe environment. The school site also houses a sure start childrens centre- Maple trees, which offers a range of courses and activities to the surrounding community from drop in counselling sessions, stay and play right through to midwife clinic.

This was my old primary school so I was interested to pop in and see how much the place has changed…read morewhen I moved back to this area, I needed a primary school for my middle daughter and although this one wasn't the closest by any means I thought I'd still pop in just to have a nosy round. It has a lovely uniform, although the blue of the jumper is not one you'll easily be able to find cheaply in the supermarkets or other shops. I'd imagine you'd need to buy it from the school or a specialised school uniform shop, meaning it's going to be a rather large expense compared to the £4 jumpers available for other schools in cheaper shops. Cofton Primary School is a one level sprawling school with a nursery, infants and junior school all incorporated in one area. There used to be a pond in the grounds back when I was in school, but presumably health and safety have demanded this be removed by now. There are loads of playing fields complete with large trees, and the school backs onto farmland which the school is allowed the use of occasionally - although again, I reckon health and safety would have something to say about this! The classrooms are all fairly large and the school keeps class sizes small so there is plenty of room inside the school rooms, the childrens' toilets I saw were all scrupulously clean with solid air fresheners located in high places where the kids' couldn't get hold of them. I spoke to four teachers when I visited, including the head, and they were all lovely and typically 'nice' primary school teachers. The children inside the school all seemed well behaved and despite the fact that I visited at lunchtime there was very little boisterous behaviour and hardly any shouting and screaming at all - and I have three children so know what a feat this is to get over 100 children all behaving well at the same time, it's hard enough keeping control of three! The dining hall was well laid out with plenty of room between the tables, and children were being served food in line with the general governments guidelines on healthy eating. On the day of my visit they were eating fish (must have been a Friday!), potatoes and sweetcorn - it all looked delicious and the children were certainly tucking in with relish! Because of the sprawling nature of this school I wouldn't imagine it would be terribly good for children with a physical disability, this isn't actually the schools fault either as the way it was originally built means there are steps and narrow turnings which I believe would make life awkward for a child who has to use a wheelchair or even one who simply has problems getting around. However, if your child has special needs then you'll obviously not want to take my word for it so please do get in touch with Cofton for more personalised advice regarding access and possible special needs teachers. Car parking is a joke at Cofton and always has been, so again this would have a bad impact on anyone who wanted to enrol a disabled child to the school. Unfortunately the 2006/2007 OFSTED report wasn't brilliant with most subjects being marked as 'satisfactory' only, but apparently a lot of work has been done to bring the school back to its former glory so the later report may have been better.

There are two…read moreplaygrounds with plenty of space to play, a garden in one of the playgrounds which had steps leading up to it acting as seats. There was also a separate garden in the back which had a pond where we would catch tadpoles for assignments and measure the temperature and check wind direction! The dinners were not the best, but they were better than what I had to endure during secondary school! Most of the teachers were great with the odd exception. The school was split into 4 teams: lions, leopards, tigers and I can't remember the 4th! The team with the most points at the end of term used to get a prizemy team never seemed to win! When I attended, uniform was optional but I believe it is now compulsory for all pupils to wear the uniform. From outside the place seems to have changed little.

The…read moreteacher in question has claimed that she has absolutely no knowledge of the issue at hand, despite being told by my sister herself, some doctors, and my mother (over phone, video chat AND in person). Three meetings with child services were attempted which the school representatives simply did not show up to. After this the teacher in question felt it necessary to contact my mother directly and demand that she be allowed INTO HER HOUSE to talk about the problem. I'm assuming that anyone reading this cares about the safety of their children, so it would be of use to know that the school does not!

Everything about this school makes it what it is, from the teachers, to the location, to the other girls that attended there. Yes, you will have a few teachers that you will ridiculously despise and others you will completely adore. Either way they will help you grow into a young adult by sharing advice laughs and cries with you the whole way through secondary school. If you chose to attend this school, I would highly recommend not to wish away the years because you will deeply regret it once you leave. You will make amazing friends that will stay with you through so many years. I would definitely choose Kings Norton Girls school for my own daughter.
