There are a number of Sunday masses to choose from and the congregation including the priests is really friendly. There is a parking lot behind the church, which is convenient. The architecture of the church is beautiful and there is talk about renovating the rectory over the next few years to included classrooms and better accomodations for the priests in residence.

Their website states that they are committed to the "Lutheran version of the Catholic faith," and while I'm not quite sure what that means because I didn't attend a service here, the architecture is nothing that you wouldn't find in a Catholic church They've got almost everything here, including lovely artwork that looks like it was lifted from an Orthodox church. It's really a lovely space, and there is a definite sense of calm and peace here. With the busy world (OK, it's only White Plains), just outside the door, it's nice that locals have the option of stepping into this quiet haven of repose for some contemplation. They don't make churches like this anymore, and that's a compliment.

Everyone that attends this church is Caucasian (doesn't bother me ) no one said hello. The priest comes in the middle to shake and greet everyone and touches there hand . Do you know he specifically missed my row . The priest continued on greeting and shaking hands . I stood up and and walked out I was hurt disgusted and feel that no one should get treated with such racism even when God is involved . I could feel a great vibe as soon as I walked into the AMC movie theatre where they worship. I was greeted and welcomed with smiling faces who share their Faith and love for Jesus! The worship band was great and pastor Jeremy has great energy and delivered a fantastic message. My spiritual vitamins were filled for the week! While I'm not a huge fan of these types of churches, only because of their service lengths, this one is one of the better baptist churches I've visited. Parking lot is fairly large and building has two floors with rooms, offices and a decent size sanctuary. This church seems to have a large number of woman leaders and possibly a female lead pastor from what I can tell. I mention the female leadership population because that actually may matter for some old school church goers. I took my kids in tow and they normally are shy but really warmed up to the instructors in charge of the children ministry though there didn't seem to be a whole lot of children during my visit so I'm not sure how large or strong the children ministry really is. It was Spring during my visit and the building was fairly warm which I have to say seems to be common in the several Baptist churches I've visited in the past. It seems they intentionally keep the place lacking of air conditioned which I have no clue why. Either they are broke and can't afford air conditioning or it's a tactic to keep people alert. I believe it may be the latter because the building clearly had a ventilation system in place. Not a bad church overall and I'd rate it a 3.5 only because the service was close to FOUR hours when I visited. The lady that seemed to be the leader mentioned it's normally not that long so I'm guessing it may be more like 3 hours but damn that's still long. :o)

This is the infamous Protestant Church which inspired the wild imaginations of New York's own…read morehistorian and diplomat; Washington Irving's 'Legend of Sleepy Hollow'. My Old Dutch Reformed Church in Tarrytown is among (can you be in better company, more revered company?) the oldest in the entire U.S.A. and quaint and bucolic and sassy-nice too! She's got curves and a rounded small end. The front is flat. Ol' Dutch. Founded 1685. Bohemian land owner Frederick Philipse built the Old Dutch Church. In fact the cemetery dates many, many decades earlier to the discovery and settlement of Manhattan. She sits on top of a little berm next to the ancient cemetery in Tarrytown, NY. One sees her better coming from North as one gets a real view of the short nave. Inside she's real tiny and the rafters are small leading to a hollow rounded roof. At the front is the pastor's pulpit. She seats about 80 in the main nave with narrow seats. There's a wood and metal organ, a short two row loft and slender windows. A chandelier and lots of wood ornamentations, wood seats, wood rails, stands.. Old Dutch Reformed Church is grey with white trim and a teensy bell tower. There is a half-moon little turnaround up front and all but about a few dozen people can stand up in the second story. The grounds are semi-private with lots of old signs to read. Founded 1685. Oldest church in New York State. Review: 5+
