I am over 60, have multiple autoimmune disorders, and a 30 year historyof asthma. I am fully vaccinated and I simply needed anti-virals. My primary is booking out 2.5 months and just says to go to urgent care. So I did. They literally told me I didn't belong there and should see my primary. At which point I started to cry because I was running a fever approaching 103, and anti-virals only help if you start them as early as possible. I felt completely helpless and as if there was no where to turn. They became patronizing "now now dear, we'll do what we can to help you feel better".... When my Covid test (which I was charged $447 for) came back positive, I was told that I couldn't be prescribed Paxlovid for it because "it's contraindicated in patients on statins". I'm not on statins, never have been. I was then told it's only for older patients with comorbidities.... Had she even read my chart? I gave her my age and comorbidities and she said she would prescribe Paxlovid. I just got the bill. I was billed for an Emergency room visit NOT an urgent care visit..... I had a rather heated conversation with their billing department where I was told that Urgent Care and Emergency Care are in the same place and which one they bill for is determined by what treatment they decide you need. NOT by what you ask for when you walk in the door. At no point in time was I told that my visit, which I was told already was unnecessary, was an ER visit. Apparently that decision is left up to the doctors who don't want to treat you, haven't even bothered to read you chart, and attempt to send you away while refusing to provide even minimal standard CDC recommended treatment. Not the first time I've had issues with this facility plumping up their bill. I was in there when I first moved to the area for a simple surgery that is usually done under a local but they drugged me to the hilt then allowed a student to do the surgery without my permission or my knowledge. They then lied to me about it. In addition - be aware that this facility is a "rurally certified healthcare facility" which sounds all nice but what it means is that if you are on Medicare, they are allowed to bill Medicare, Medicare takes their discount and pays their 80%. The patient however, is then billed 20% of the original, undiscounted, bill which is often more than the amount that Medicare paid. Their billing department will NOT explain why and just repeats "I don't know why your bill is so high, we just bill what Medicare tells us to". Medicare also will not explain it to you even though you have a legal right to this information as it falls under the right to have understandable information so you can make reasonable healthcare decisions.... like, would you like to save $10,000 by driving 45 minutes to an urban facility? I learned this after months of trying to understand and I finally found a company that assists medical facilities in becoming rurally certified. They spelled it out plain and simple in one easy to under sentence. States that saw Medicaid expansion also saw a massive rise in new rurally certified facilities being built because the excess was billed to Medicaid and the state pays it vs billing patients on Medicare who are either seniors or the disabled, which resulted in unpaid bills or bankruptcy. Beware - This facility has predatory billing practices, especially if you are on Medicare or Medicaid. Now that Medicaid is being defunded, anyone with Medicare will be seeing massive bills. You can request an Urgent Care visit but even if they tell you to your face that they think that's unnecessary, they'll charge you as an Emergency Room visit AND attempt to provide no treatment at all.

I call the number, they answer the phone, "Finley Hospital" I asked for genetic counseling and am told they don't offer that service. I said that the person who left the message said they were from Finley. I asked about the Wendt Cancer Center attached to them and she says, "Oh, yeah!" and transfers me back in to the main phone chain. I had to start all over. Maybe a fact sheet would help to allow you to be able to give correct info to callers. Thank you!

It was a little confusing trying to figure out where to go but the reception of both buildings were great. I was recently seen in the SSM Neurology clinic for migraines after having to switch from a UW provider due to insurance change. I was incredibly impressed by the genuine care, attention to detail & time spent with me as a patient. Upbeat appointment start by the MA prior & superior care by Dr. Cristina Murphy. I was blown away by the amount of time she had prepped reading my past chart with notes taken & overall preparedness for my first appointment! This has not usually been my experience with past providers. She was genuinely compassionate & ready to try new options, as well as explained things my other providers had not. I'm really looking forward to working with her. She sent out new Rx's for approval & it was completed in 2 business days. Very pretty building. Nice, large (kid friendly) waiting room & easy check in/out (via reception or touchscreen). The only thing I'd change were that while I got a nice reminder text the day before, I got a call from (a very friendly) RN to come in a bit earlier for all of the new lengthy paperwork. I can't drive & had made my transportation plans around the time the text said the day before. It ended up being fine but it'd be nice if the automated system could work that in for the initial appointments! Otherwise I'm very happy with the care received.

I get up there about 12pm. I arrive n my son who has 3-3 iv boxes hooked up to him was in the shower lights going off in the bathroom n bed. I freak hes gettin out I HELPED HIM. I let it go. IV falls out from tape getting wet. Then come in accuse him of taken them out. He has collapsible Veins. K. I let that go. Then tells me when I scold him that he threw up on himself. Noooo one came?. Till I got there. And he was dressed. K. She comes in "changes" his bed. Changes means cleaning the mattress. You would think. Threw the night he throws up on himself 3 more times. He pushes the button and they take their time. Ice chips juice little by little. The first time was slow. Scenic time I did it and shut his light off. Third time this momma was PI$$^& OFF. I not only here bout giving him his meds and it will get him threw half the night im doing their work while they are sitting. K. Was it wrong on me. I admitted 2 them. But I see my son laying on 3 pillow cases of puke. Just bio. But dried. And 1 wet. The bed was changed. By her. I took the pillow cases off n tossed them on the counter after the 4th time in the AM. Nurse says I hit her with them. NEVER AS IM A CNA FOR 22YRS. She said dont throw that at me. I said did it hit you. Any part but the counter?? I get him his juice-water-ice chips clean bed. They called the "Hospital Police". Lol. I was leaving anyway I told them. I planned on going up the next day and they call me. Tell me im no longer aloud their. I tell them watch the video. No no we talked to the nurse. Ummm ok...video. nope. My kid codes and I NEVER RECEIVED A CODES. THEN hes moved to 2nd floor...where he says they treated him with respect-clean living and staff that joked around and people and Drs have been SO AMAZING. AND HE CRIED. I asked him what's wrong wrong. He said I MISS you but I feel SAFE. FEEL SAFE?? There was A LOT more on their part. But in ALL HONESTY I left no problem. And yes I did wrong. Apologized and Explained and was still told NO. From that one thing. I do recommend this hospital BUT NOT THE 8TH FLOOR THAT ALWAYS SHORT STAFF is what we were ALWAYS TOLD. WHAT IF SOMEONES DYING. He checked my chart doors a one over on my leg and says oh it's not that bad! I can't bend my toes or ankle it's so swollen and has different areas that are red and painful.. long story short, he commented the er isn't really equipped for a swollen ankle, and he didn't think it war summing to worry about!!' His time and demeanor was absurd and in a way like I was interrupting and bothering him. Didn't care what I was telling him about my concerns, so after I felt I was being insulted and judged, I told him thank you and hobbled out the doors!! (I have a chronic heart condition that causes pain and can change without notice real fast to a bad situation) I called my cardiologist in lacrosse and she said go into the ER immediately. I walked in to the ER around 9:00 am and explained what was going on. The receptionist looked at me like I was stupid and repeated what I said. Then asked if I was still having a hard time, I said yes and then I said that I was told I need an EKG and an Echo to make sure my heart is okay. She said your heart doctor said that? And I said yes, I was born with this condition and need to make sure it's okay. I got emitted and the nurse (and a student who was learning) asked me to change into a gown, and waited in the room, while I change. No curtain. Nothing. Honestly it might have been because I was having a hard time breathing but, at the time I was uncomfortable. But, what made me really push over the edge and causes me to hate going to this hospital is the nurse thought I was taking too long and unhooked my bra. I didn't ask her to, she just did. (I have a lot of Trama when it comes to sexual assault) the whole appointment I was out of it and only remember the part where I got sent out after a quick EKG, them telling them that since I'm not pregnant that an Echo isn't needed and that I need to schedule and appointment with them and then them telling me that I was wrong about having a heart murmur (Can confirm that I still have a heart murmur). I haven't gone since and usually accompany friends if they go because having my health disregarded so fast was horrible and made me cry in the parking lot for 10 minutes after leaving the ER and I will never have one of my friends feel that alone like I I debated for weeks if I should call HR, my friends were telling me to as this shouldn't happen to someone who could have reacted more negatively to it. When I called HR, the lady was very nice and immediately was shocked by the unhooking of the bra. Honestly talked about how she would figure out who it was and look at some training for the staff so that this would not happen again. This HR woman truly is the only reason why they are getting a 3 star.
