After reading the reviews on here about Mr. Handyman I had to write a review on behalf of the…read moreservices my condo association has received from Mr. Handyman. I don't know what was going on 3-4 years ago but the business has changed clearly. Our association hired them to complete 3 jobs. The first job was to replace our mailbox that had been damaged. They gave a reasonable quote that matched the service being provided given today's economy. I never understood how some people expect skilled carpenters to give low ball quotes for labor and materials on their home projects. If you want to save money buy the materials and do the project yourself or pay a respectable wage to the skilled carpenter, just my opinion. They did a great job with the new mailbox we then hired them to soft wash our shingles, they were in rough shape and probably haven't been washed ever since installed which might be close to 10 years maybe more. James came out worked all day applying the solution to the shingles. We waited I believe 6 weeks according to the solution companies recommendation. Our shingles were better but not what we were hoping for, to be honest a miracle was the only thing saving these shingles. However, Cody (the owner) was always following up asking what we thought we said we wished for better results. Cody had James come back out and do another treatment free of charge! I was amazed meaning this company ate the cost of labor and supplies to ensure we were a happy customer. The shingles did look much better after that treatment. We then hired them for a third project a dumpster/recycling bin enclosure. From start to finish Cody worked with us on design and planning. We showed him photos of what we were looking for and he did his best to work with our price range and materials to achieve the look we were going for. You have to be realistic in the world of carpentry that not every Pinterest item will be a available and you may have to wait longer for materials they go out of stock or companies close that manufacture certain items, the cost of lumber etc also fluctuates. Things people seem to forget. We ran into an issue with permits and our town. Cody reached out to our town to help explain the project, and was willing to go the extra step to help us get this done. We needed to rework our original design Cody and James both sent back multiple drawings for us to look at that would work with our new parameters. Eventually James and another worker came out to work on this project they took one day from sun up to sun down. Completing the project. The enclosure looks fantastic. I can't say enough about the work ethic of Cody and his team. They are worth the hire for your home project.

Extremely unprofessional, unskilled, and careless. We reached out to Mr. Handyman when the tile…read morefloor next to our sliding patio door broke through due to some water damage caused by the previous owner's negligence. We decided to take the opportunity to lay a new tile design and replace the patio door for which we were quoted $1000 and 1 day of work. In actuality, we ended up spending over 3x this and the job took 2 days. The resulting look was well below what anyone would expect of a professional service with crookedly laid tile, sloppy/uneven grout, and an unleveled bowing to the whole thing. To make matters worse, that section of the floor began to squeak and creak 1 month later. We raised this issue and they sent out someone to come and assess the situation. From there, it was determined that the initial handyman did not catch that the floor needed additional support installed which resulted in the bowing and squeaking. Subsequently, we were told that the owner would need to come out and take a look as well in order to address this. Weeks went by trying to get something scheduled just to never have the owner bother to show up. The handyman that originally did the installation was sent back again to take a look at the issue and determine a resolution. Their proposed resolution? An automated email quoting us an additional $1062 price tag with the following stipulations: "Be aware that this may cause other issues such as tiles moving and failing, squeaks, wall cracks, and possible slider readjustments may also be needed. This will not completely fix the sag". So not only does this company not stand behind their craftsmanship, but they have the audacity to charge over $1000 not only to not fix the issue, but potentially cause more damage. We've been met with silence for well over a week now after replying to this quote raising our concerns. Stay away from this "business" at all costs as they have no care for their customers and their operating practices are borderline criminal.

There are various excuses that James Clang has given us for not being able to complete the work (he has no employees, he hurt his back, he was sick, his truck broke down, he has no money, it was rainy, too cold or too hot outside, needs new tools, busy working on other projects, etc) When we first spoke to James Clang, we noted that we would be selling the condo within the next year or two. We are now unable to sell or rent the condo. I have spoken to James Clang many times over the past year and have expressed my concerns over the floors inside the condo adjacent to the deck and the need to do the repairs quickly due to damages the deck is causing through water damage and silverfish. One year later the condo cannot be rented or sold due to the incomplete deck project. At this point, we are attempting to get our deposit back which has led to James Clang making threats against us.
