The barbers are bs'ing with each other and there's a fun vibe. I had one person in front of me and the wait was reasonable. I sat down and chatted up my barber, ordered a skin fade. She was quick and funny, and i got a great cut. We talked about carrollwood 20 years ago and I felt right at home. People started coming in right after i got there and it got busy quick. That's a good sign that this is a great barbershop. They haven't been open that long and I think i've found my new spot for a haircut. Don't bother with Headlines barbershop by Sunlake off Oakstead…read more My son had an appointment with Joel at 4:45 at the Sunlake store. As I was walking up Joel was returning and said he needed 15 minutes. I walked in as he took a customer and seated him at our appt time. He said it would be real quick. The guy had a beard and almost no hair so how long could it take? 30 MINUTES later my son said let's go. I walked over to Joel and said we were leaving. He actually seemed surprised. I told him that I had yelled to get my son out the door to be on time as I told him being on time is important. Joel said he was done (didn't look like it as the customer wasn't moving) and I replied at that point I didn't care. He then offered to cut for free. I didn't care. NO APOLOGY, NO EXPLANATION. I'm sure everyone got an earful how unreasonable I was after I left. I hope that guy you gave our time to is a repeat customer and tips well, because we will never return. This is how to tank your business. I am more than happy to spend more money else where.

Immediately, I noted he was very welcoming and extremely proficient with the clippers and straight razor. Overall, a great barbershop, excellent environment, and I have now found my new place for our fades and my beard. Highly recommend Isaac and or Gio!

I could tell from Dave's own hair and the collection of Pomades at his station that he was the one to try at Mel's...and I've been a loyal customer ever since. They had a totally separate kids waiting room with games and books that kept my son entertained while he waited his turn. He had his hair cut by Sandy who was just awesome. So friendly and she kept telling me (and my son) what a well behaved young man he was. This means the world to me because Ronin is autistic and his mood varies greatly. It was nice to have someone appreciate him for the boy that he is. They also had free plastic fireman hats for the kids post-cut, and lollipops, gum, and for the adults Kenny had brewed some amazing Kona Hawaiian coffee! The cut was $15, with tip, $20 (Happy New Year) but well worth it. We'll be back!
