Your time with the doctor will be about 5 minutes and you will be absolutely rushed through with the doctor seeming to have made a decision before even talking with you. If you have tests run, don't plan on anyone calling you or explaining the results. You'll be expected to schedule another appointment and wait for another three months.

During the surgery, Neary drilled and attached the tendon to the WRONG bone, upon xray he noticed his error. (he even documented that he erroneously attached a tendon to the wrong bone in his physician report) He then had to cut into the back of his arm to detach the tendon and reattach it to the correct arm. he did not a properly attach the tendon to the bicep, so his bicep is still attached incorrectly. When drilling into the wrong bone he brushed across a nerve causing permanent nerve damage and loss of feeling in all his fingers.

My family has had the medical services of Dr. Michael O'Brien for over twenty -five years. He first…read moreoperated on my son for a broken leg from an automobile accident. He was professional, caring but serious and to the point on what needed to be done to correct the injury, The follow up care was handled in a stern manner relaying the importance of rehabilitation and also to be careful of further injury as he now had a rod a long side of his femur. Many years later he has occasional pain in cold weather but has never walked with a limp or needed help due to the leg injury. Another son suffered back pain from an injury for several years. This pain limited his ability to work at his job as a mechanic. He was able to get medical care at Moss Clinic and Dr.O'Brien volunteers there. So when he began having trouble walking he thought it was his back. After seeing Dr.O'Brien and was assured it wasn't his back causing the problem he was advised to seek medical treatment at VCU or MCV. I took him to Richmond to VCU and after many test he was diagnosed with a virus that had attacked his liver resulting in nerve damage to his legs. Thank you Dr. O'Brien for saving my son's life with your diagnosis as his organs were shutting down. Two years later he is still recovering and he can walk even though walking seemed an impossibly as bad as his condition was!

I saw Dr. O'Brien in the summer/fall of 2017. I was having calf pains and thought they were related…read moreto a bone fusion I had previously (hence, why I visited an orthopedic). During the physical exam, Dr. O'Brien put one hand on the inside of my right knee, and the other hand on the outside of my right ankle. He proceeded to push outward on my knee and inward in my ankle in what can only be described as a sudden, jerking motion. My knee and ankle both popped audibly and I could not believe that he had done that. He told me he needed to "see what my knee felt like" after the fusion surgery I had done previously. I was upset and in pain. Dr. O'Brien quickly denied that he had caused any damage and seemed immediately concerned with litigation rather than caring for me (for the record, I have not taken nor do I intend to take any legal action). This episode caused chronic pain and popping in my knee and chronic pain/crunching in my ankle. I saw 4 more orthopedics over the course of the last year and a half, had 3 MRIs, and an EMG done. Finally, an orthopedic surgeon recommend that I go to the Steadman Clinic in Vail, CO to help with the chronic pain. The specialist there was able to operate on my knee and resolve the issues. The takeaway of my story and the reason I am writing this review (something I rarely do) is to warn people against seeing Dr. O'Brien. He damaged my ankle and knee during what should have been a routine physical exam and was unsympathetic when I told him so. He has caused me chronic pain for over a year and a half and cost me thousand I medical bills.
